Brevard Zoo, Melbourne

It is a small zoo for a small city... of course it isn't a HUGE zoo and the animals aren't there to 'entertain', they are more active (like all zoos) at morning and afternoon... it is very educational for children and fun too... whenever we want to kill a few hours we take our daughter out to play in the small pool there and to see the animals, feed the giraffes, the Petting Zoo, feed the birds... considering that it is run by volunteers - it is a great zoo and everyone does a great job. We buy a yearly pass to go - we would rather spend our money on a nice family day out together... and that is what it is all about... family... a must see place... if not once in your life.

And cost bucks to get in....When I lived in Calif. The Oakland zoo was a real nice place to spend the day and still is from what my old friends tell me. And it cost less to get in then the Melbourne Zoo...The Train at the Melbourne zoo used to be ok. But now they cut that short..And when I was on it people had to get out and push it to get it going because it got stuck on the tracks...And the Hot Dogs cost way to much...This place like many other so called parks in Melbourne Stink....This is a bring money in but don't spend any to fix it up kind of town....

I havent been there in a while, but living in Orlando and coming here often, we often get tired of the beach. We love to go here just to entertain the kids. There are new exhibits and the reason why nobody sees animals is because you go at the wrong time! The early and late times are feeding/active times. There are a ton of things to do and the giraffe exhibit is veryspecial. Its not the biggest, but expanding with a new cheetah and butterfly exhibit, as well as Zoo Nights, The true Florida landscape shades the paths as well. It is a quick in-out thing if you don't visit things like the train or have lunch or go kayaking (Africa route is a must!) or anything like that. Brevard Zoo is a must!

Was looking forward to a visit to the Brevard Zoo, but not only found it laking as far as a zoo, it was a total joke, If they want to see how a REAL ZOO, looks and cares for the animals, they should go to THe Swope Park Zoo in Kansas City, Missouri where they know how to set up NATURAL Areas, and how to display them.

we went to this zoo today and i was not impressed. sounded really good on-line but was lacking after we got there. most animals were either not there or just not able to be seen. the layout/paths did not flow well. lots of back tracking. can say this was a one and only visit

The zoo is amazing and is a true gem for the central Florida community. It may not be the biggest zoo in the world - but then that is consistent with what makes the central Florida region so special – just a wonderful and peaceful place to be… You can tell that it was truly created by people who really care and love animals – not as a business to make money. Well worth the money and I highly recommend it...

OVERVIEW: The Zoo is fantastic. If you are visiting Melbourne I would highly recommend that you/you and your family stop by. I've seen a lot of things on the Space Coast and would recommend to anyone to stop by the Brevard Zoo if you love animals and/or Zoos. The Zoo is a packed and unique half day experience that you and your family will love... THE ZOO POSITIVES: +Designed to be a half day experience (although if you do everything you'll notice it's a little more then that) +Zoo and Enclosures have a very nice "feel" to them. When walking through the Zoo it's like you are walking through wild Florida while viewing exotic animals. +The Zoo offers a many unique experiences (i.e. Kayaking, hand feeding Giraffes, hand feeding birds, etc). THE ZOO NEGATIVES: -There are not a lot of "large" animals at this Zoo. There are no elephants, lions, tigers, or bears. I personally do not consider this a negative but some people do. If you're looking for the largest Zoo in America with the most animals, this Zoo isn't it. Although I must say the collection, in my opinion, is awesome! ABOUT US: My wife and I are avid travelers and visit Zoo's almost everywhere we go. We are also avid volunteers and have volunteered at many animal/nature institutions. We recently moved to Melbourne, FL from Baltimore, MD.

My husband and I went to the zoo for the day it was the best friendly staff friendly and helpful. I love this zoo not only for relaxation but a great education and wonderful kyacking. The instructors are knowledgeable abd friendly. Awesome. Thank you.

Everyone should visit the Brevard Zoo. So many interactive activities with the animals. The zoo is in expensive for a family but will create many wonderful memories for the future. The zoo was built by volunteers. It is surrounded by the natural beauty of Florida in a city called Melbourne. The flight cages for the birds were outstanding and such a wonderful one- on-one experience for the little ones. The best part of the zoo for me was the interaction with the "Giraffe." For a small fee, you purchase crackers to feed to the giraffe and he loves it. Everyone needs to visit.

this zoo needs more added.you can be outta there very fast. waste of money & boring.kids do not even like it. most say they do but don't.
