Boston Lyric Opera
Boston Lyric Opera (BLO) is New England's favorite opera company. Founded in 1976, BLO is recognized for its artistically excellent productions of a diverse repertoire that entertain and inspire audiences and which feature emerging operatic talent. Its mainstage productions at the Shubert Theatre , live broadcasts on WGBH radio and its traveling production of a fully staged, one-hour English version of a popular opera for schools and families reach some 200,000 people a year. Boston Lyric Opera has featured timeless classics such as Puccini's "Madama Butterfly" and Mozart's "Don Giovanni."

And contrary to many listings, including Yahoo's, it's address is *not* 45 Franklin Street (which happens to be the offices of Boston Lyric Opera), but rather 539 Washington Street, much closer to the rest of the Theater District; use Yahoo! Maps to show where. Before its recent restoration, it was indeed the home of The Opera Company of Boston, but it was originally built for vaudville, just before the decline of that art form.
