Millennium Park

Description

Millennium Park is one of the newest additions to Chicago's many wide-open urban spaces, and is host to a range of indoor/outdoor activities for the entire family. You can listen to top musical events at the outdoor pavilion, or glide across the bustling ice skating rink come winter. The park is also home to some of the city's best public art, such as the interactive Crown Fountain, and the scene-stealing Cloud Gate —a mirrored sculpture situated in the middle of the plaza. For a scenic walk, take a stroll through the Lurie Garden, or wind your way along Frank Gehry's BP Bridge. For a bit of the park's history, be sure to take a peek at the Peristyle, a replica of the curving row of paired Greek columns that were on the corner of Grant Park near Michigan and Randolph from 1917 to 1953. While in the park one cannot afford to miss the Cloud Gate Sculpture, a three storied structure built with 110 tons of steel. It is called the Bean Sculpture by the residents.

Sweet
By RunningRiot_KY, 7/4/10
What a great place to spend time with the family, we really enjoyed just walking around and taking in the sights. The Cloud is such a cool visit with some awesome photo ops. Also the fountain with the city residents coupled with the shallow walking pool is really amazing (forgot the name SORRY). The very best thing here though was the cafe located just under the cloud. The burgers are to die for!

Can't Wait to Go Back!
By Medj P, 11/8/09
I've been to Chicago twice, and I went on both times to Millenium Park. It's great when i went there in the Fall and during Winter too. The Bean is great, and you can use this to take a panoramic picture of the city.

Have been twice this month. Going back tomorrow. Get up close, stand back, walk under and around. Get a whole new look at the world and yourself. It's good for you.

A must go each time I get to Chicago is the bean.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/11/09
We come to see a special Doctor for our grandchild. I am 61 qndin love with the city. The bean is a great place eto go . It's free and has a wond erful wiew of the buildinge. We always take lots of phots around an against the bean. One fun thing is to lay on the ground with feet at bace of bean abd take photo. e were there last thanksgiving and there was icescating. Our grand son took off on his skates like a pro. He is 11 and roller blades here in Fl. never had he beeen on ice skates! What wonderful vidio we got of him. He even did some small jumps!! There is live music and in the summer you can stand and listen. I could never tire of this city. So much to do/ many bars to hop into and hear great music..Its good if you are in the city, cabs are everywhere, and you can walk 5 miles before you know it, just because you are seeing shuch great arcitect. Lincon Parh has a fab free soo and then there is there is a park where you will see statues Wizard of Oz ! Pack a picnic and you are set. If I were in a position to relocate, I would live there in a flash. Just so much to see and do. B.B. in Jax, Fl.

Redefines day at the park
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/22/09
Peaceful and serene, the park is bounded by magnificent views of the skyline. The Bean is now a Chicago landmark and a must for every visitor (or resident), especially considering the Park's central location. The Crown Fountains are impressive for adults and fun for kids (in the summer).

Anxiously awaiting my return
By Sonja, 2/10/09
Visiting Chicago last year August 2008 was enjoyable for me. Evenmore that I visited the Milennium Park ,one day before I departed for home. The Bean is unique. The waterfall with the people faces reminded me of home where we have many cultures, and our leaders would say "one nation many cultures". Thanks to my cousin who was persistent for me to see this park. Thanks again publicly.

The Bean
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/16/08
The park is nice to see. The Bean is quite obsoleted. We took several pictures thru the Bean to capture the skyscapers. I was there when music was played. It is wonderful experience

By Shelley, 7/7/08
I wish we had a park comparable to this in my city. Very pituresque and great atmosphere. I took many beautiful pictures here. Make sure to see Buckingham fountain while you're here.
