Description

Due to the damage caused by Hurricane Wilma, the following description may no longer be accurate. Please consider this when making your travel plans. The Tacolote serves tacos in the center of Cancún. It is popular because of the wide variety of the delicious, traditional Mexican tacos, and for its moderate prices. The variety includes beefsteak, cutlet, rib, pastor, alambre(a combination of meats and grated cheese with peppers and onion), sarapes (grilled tortilla filled with meat and other ingredients), gratin dishes, pork sausages and some seafood. To complement your tacos, they serve beans or fried onions. The decor is simple, with some typical Mexican motifs. Prices are affordable. Informal and familiar atmosphere.

A must dining experience

I echo what all of the other great reviewers say. Good value for your money. We have been there many times. My wife and six friends will be eating there 3/2/2010 at 6:00PM come join us and enjoy.

best Mex food in Cancun!

Outstanding Mexican food -- get off the tourist strip and eat well for a change. After 14 days in Cancun, working at COP16, we finally had a few minutes to get away and our only regret is that we didn't find Tacolote sooner. The pico is super fresh and spicy; margaritas are great. The food is very flavorful, rather than the bland stuff that Hotel Zone restaurants serve. The sopa de limon was amazing. Great service; fun atmosphere with (loud) live music (but he had a beautiful voice). We stayed for hours and closed the place. Can't wait to come back.

Bang for your Buck

Wanted to find an original place downtown and this was our concierge recommendation. What a find! Excellent food for good prices. Atmosphere is a bit loud but worth it. Will go back.

Overall Great Experience!

My husband and I stayed in a hotel downtown, not on the Hotel Zone, and found Tacolote one day wondering the streets of Cancun. We ended up eating here everyday for the rest of our stay! The price was great for the wonderful tacos they served! This is what REAL Mexican food tastes like! =) We recommend this restaurant to anyone who makes Cancun a stop in their travels...

One of the Best!!

My boyfriend and I were tired of the expensive restaurant chains on the Hotel zone, so we took the bus to downtown and discovered this gem of a restaurant! The food smelled so good when we walked by, so we decided to give it a try. It is on a street called Yaxchitlan. If you like seafood, you must have their ceviche. I've tried it in many other restaurants and this one is by far the best. The ingredients were fresh and the taste was perfect. We also had the fajitas and they were fantstic. The meats and vegies were marinated and grilled to perfection. The prices were also reasonble. For two entrees and two drinks, we spent about $22.

A regular satified patron

I have dined at this delightful place more than 20 times. My favorite waiter is Silvio (a very small man) who is constantly smiling. The tacos al pastor, soups, enchildas, deserts...you name it are absolutely delicious. A chilada (beer, ice, lime juice) is a refreshing way to compliment your meal. Flan is excellent for desert. One of the great values and dinning experiences in Cancun.
