My husband and I gve been to this restaurant 4 times! Each time we bring home a doggie bag! Their crab caked are pure chunks of crab but this time we went it wasn't as big as before! And they took off the salt and vinegar fries! But it was still good!
Food is so so. If you come in alone, you have to eat in the bar. Too crowded, terrible place for dining alone. I won't go there again. As other New Yorker said no good restaurants in San Diego.
Turned out to be very bad evening on Valentine's Day. 5 items were 86 off the menu. Waited over an hour for out entree. Waiter brought the wrong oysters. Will not return!
Second and likely our last time eating at this restaurant. The beet salad was easily enough for two big salad eaters. NZ abalone came breaded and was bland. The swordfish was grilled and moist but the cranberry topping was not distinguishing. Prefer our home recipe. The key lime pie dessert was easily enough for 4 people--we left at least half.
We have eaten at the Oceanaire in DC, which was very good. The SD place was ok and expensive. Service was not remarkable and the food good but not great. The wine list is good and not overpriced. There much better seafood restaurants in San Diego.
We were fortunate to try Oceanaire when they first opened in San Diego and were never disappointed with the food and service. I'm amazed that no one has mentioned the cost of valet parking. It was not $20 when they opened. Be sure to take taxi or walk if you're staying in the city. What a rip-off to valet!
Amazing dining experience. Perfect clams casino and oysters on the half shell. Fresh sourdough bread. Lobster tail the size of a ham hock and tender and sole stuffed with crab is perfection. Service is impeccable and nice wine list too. A winner for San Diego!!!
I had a great dining experience. I started with the famous crab cakes. I am impressed they lived up to all the hype. They are the best crab cakes I ever had in my life. Then I had a couple of fresh Kumamoto oysters. Yum. And for my main course I had the kid dynamite crab/fish dish. Everything was very fresh and presented well. I was also impressed by the portions. Would definitely go again.
