Stingaree, San Diego

This place is always packed on the weekend, and is more on the expensive side. there are a lot of cool people and the music is good, but be ready to spend some serious cash.

My girl friend and I went there for dinner with high expectations. The Dinner was ok but once we entered the second floor VIP section my girl friend was approached and ... when I tried to stop the guy two other guys showed up and there was no night club employees to assist. We ended up walking away and left the restaurant. It was a very bad experience. The restaurant/ Night club does not have high class customers.

I've been here twice and both times had a pretty good time. I typically don't love crowded places so that would be my main criticism. Plus, I'm not really a "club girl" But if you're in the Gaslamp and want a fun place to hang out at- this is a entertaining bar. My favorite part was the rooftop.

I had a really horrible experience at this club. I rented their Hummer limo & also reserved a cabana for my sister's 30th Birthday. I didn't know you had to be rich to party in this club. We spent over $1,000 & the bouncers & staff treated us like we were poor. One bouncer even said, "we have people who spend $10,000 in this club." They tried to cheat me out of one appetizer tray & were just plain rude! This was 2 years ago & I haven't been back since!!! Oh, & everything is ridiculously expensive so be prepared to spend lots of $$$$! What does Stingaree think this is... Hollywood??

So yes, it's a hot spot because of the beautiful atmosphere and decor, but if the people made the place I'd say it's hideous. Maybe the weekend is a bad time to go where out of towners make it a horrible experience with rude people, but the food was good and the bartenders were cool. Just be prepared to spend some cash!

Wow: After asking everyone where the hot spot was in the Gaslamp District, I was sent to the classy Stingaree. I was outside and was like wow this must be the 'ish'. There were many people attempting to get inside via the guest list and I couldn't understand why, since me and my date walked right in using the regular line. Until I got inside.... I didn't know that I needed to rob a bank on my way there or stop by Pier One to bring my own seating. The dancing didn't start until late and the cover and drinks were atrociously overpriced. The atmosphere was nice and I didn't understand the concept of having seating on the rooftop where patrons draped their feet over my drink. If you don't want to rob a bank I suggest you get a good amount of money before entering. I was surprised that I had to go to their inside atm 3 times because they only allow you a minimal amount of cash withdrawal at one time (with a 3 dollar charge). The areas roped off for VIPs was bigger than the dance floor where you also had to stand since there was no seating. I do admit that the staff was very courteous and approachable. I am not frugal and I like to have a great time but this experience was not the best bang for your buck.

I have been to Stingaree on two occasions and both times the place was very crowded. As a result it was hard to get a drink. Furthermore, we had to wait in line to get in the bar.

This place has a pretty neat set up overall. There are multiple floors to allow for a large dance floor but also the opportunity to lounge in a more relaxed setting. The roof top has some gorgeous views. Drinks can be a bit pricey, but they are not any more expensive than the other nightclubs in downtown San Diego.

This nightclub is pretty nice, mostly depends on when you go. The music is pretty good and if you are under 21 don't think about going...cause they are not friendly to the youngings.

This is a big hot spot in San Diego. There is always a long line on the weekend and sometimes they have special events during the week. You get a lot of the Chargers players visiting this spot. Pretty good DJ, there are multiple rooms so if you don't like the main floor just head on upstairs. Really fun, great atmosphere, overall great club. Dress to impress!!
