2nd & LAST visit, worse than the 1st Where do I start?? out of a number of drink seletions, beer, wine, Bailys, they were out of every choice. We had a reservation due to us being a party of 20. They weren't set up forus even though we had a reservation. Wait staff took forever, my glass had lipstick on it, & not the shade I was wearing. Food way too salty & way too much thick tomatoe paste. Salad swimming in dressing Bread cold, had to ask for more EVOO for the bread. Frozen, freezer burned cheesecake, or what we thought was posing as cheesecake. The WORST!!! Took over 30 minutes to get coffee. I left the rest of my group waiting because I couldn't take it anymore. Oh yeah & everytime our waitress would lean over her bra & chest would show like she was purposefully putting her boobs in our food. This was a work function, so it was embrassing, since we had a bunch of our collegues from Japan with us. Save your money, if you have your choice of going to Pasta Luna or going hungry. Go hungry, just say, great today is the day I'm going on a diet period. I would love to meet the reviewers/people who voted this the #1 Italia Resturante in Richmond. They had to be paid off, or just released from a penitentary or mental instituion to think this food & service are worthy of being called #1. It's a joke- Chef Boyardee in a can tastes better. If you have money to throw away eating here, please I'm begging you, donnate it to any animal rescue group. They need the money much worse. Trust me!!
I LOVE the ambiance of Pasta Luna. It's always noisy, crowded (but the old man behind the bar will accommodate you as soon as he possibly can) and the music is always pumping. It might be Ole Blue Eyes, or it might be the latest 50 Cent. I don't think I've ever been to Pasta Luna and haven't heard a dish break. People come here for a tasty, bountiful meal with a lot of friends. You MUST have wine with your meal, and you'll always leave with lunch for the next day. For a more intimate setting, ask to be seated upstairs.
This is a place that definitely works best if you have a group of people because the food is served family style. I love the pasta dishes here, and the marsala sauce is wonderful. The service is slow and surly, and I'm not wild about the paper tablecloths which I'm sure save them a lot on laundry bills. However, if you can put up with an inappropriately dressed and rude waitress, the food is great. Go with a group of friends or family so you can entertain each other while you wait, and you all can commiserate over the sad service.
I have been to this restaurant three times. The first time a client wanted cocktails. They seemed smarmy and they did not welcome us. I felt as if we were disturbing the atmosphere when we walked entered.
Ok,I gave it the benefit of the doubt....the second time-the same thing happened. We were at the bar talking. My client had one drink and I had a soda. But, people and the back and around were peeping at us as if we didn't fit. My client is disabled and has an accent but I didn't know that was a crime or wierd.
So, the third time, my client went in and the first and 2nd door had two different times for reopen. He nicely asked if we could just have cocktails....and they rudely and distantly let us know that the restaurant was not open until a time that was different than what the door(s) said. So, I won't go there.
Never have had the food. My client has and did not like it.
It may work for others but it isn't for me and my international client regardless of the proximity to my office.
