I have never had a problem with their service, They are always friendly and kind. I get nothing but great comments on how good the food is from my guests, and I never have leftovers, so that must mean something.
Excellent home cooked food with a friendly touch.
I usually only get the sfiha's...my favorite is the chicken. The other day I had a dinner party for Ramadan, and ordered the grape leaves....They were excellent. I have had the mansaf catered as well and it was great.
I definately would recommend Grapevine. I think it's one of the best consistently good restaurants on the south suburbs.
If you are looking for homemade, not processed, middle eastern cuisine, this is definitely the best place to go. This place is unlike any other catering and bakery in the area. The prices are reasonable for the quality of food you recieve. The homemade pies and warek dawalli are to die for. The pies are usually readily available on a daily basis. It is a good idea to pre-order all speciality dishes. New items worthy of trying are the shawarma sandwiches. A sandwich and salad to go can last for at least two meals. I enjoy stopping by weekly for the friendly service and delicious food. Definitely worth the try.
The food from grapevine is absolutely delicious. The hummus, baba ghanouj and falafel (stuffed and regular), kabob trays, pies are all mouth watering. there is always plenty of food and you can feed an army with such inexpensive items on the menu. Definitely give it a try if you have not already. You will not be disappointed.
The food here is fresh and seasoned just right! The other Middle Eastern restaurants in the area are inconsistent; too salty one day, under seasoned the next. This stands true for Baladi, The Nile and Al Basha (I've eaten at all of these).
Note to everyone: Al Basha and the Nile have horrible service (slow, sometimes unpleasant and barely speak english). In addition and most importantly, they are possibly the two most FILTHIEST restaurants I have ever been in; if the dining rooms are dirty, just imagine what shape the kitchens are in. It's a shame as an entree at Al Basha is around $15 per person without a beverage.
On the other hand, Grapevine cuisine is very good and inexpensive. You can feed a family of four for under $30. Did I mention, the Grapevine is clean! Not a lot of seating though, but it is probably the freshest and healthiest take out around.
I have been eating at the Grapevine since it has been open. As a very picky eater a restaurant has to have a great first impression for me to return. This is one of those restaurants. There are enough dish varieties to accommodate anyone's hunger pallet. The food is not spicy yet has the right kick to make it stand out and be noticed.
Well, I do like their spinach kraas (spinach and onions baked into a bread triangle) and their cheese filled bread rolls and really good. I do have to recommend you STAY AWAY from their kabobs though. Super dry and over-spiced. I had tried the two things I listed above and was in a pinch to cater a holiday party. I called them and set up an order for lamb and beef kabobs with rice and all of the sides. I have to say I was more than disappointed with the results. My guests felt the same. For the hefty price I paid, they could have marinated the meat before throwing it on the flame. It was dry, tough and inedible. Thank goodness I had prepared other side dishes of my own to keep my guests happy. The hummos was horrible, like they used old jar garlic or something, just gross. I am still waiting for that good middle eastern restaurant in Orland Park. AlBasha in Palos is still your best bet for middle eastern cuisine in the southwest burbs. I heard that Steve's Shish Kabob house (originally from 63rd street) is opening up in Palos on 111th and Roberts Road. Please, let it be true!!!!!!! Overall, go to Grapevine for quick baked goods, steer clear of the kabobs.
i am very picky w/my warak d'awali (stuffed grape leaves). I had some at a catered party and started to do cartwheel, so goooooooooooodd. i had to find out who made it. I know go back weekly for a dose, so addictive and delicious. def worth the trip!!!!
Excellent fresh hummus and pitas! They mainly do catering but can make a meal for a family with a few hours notice. They usually have baked items made with meats or spinach available without ordering ahead, but it depends on how busy they have been that day - they sometimes sell out. Often there are samples by the cash register. They also have a selection of Mediterranean and Indian groceries. They catered a party for me, and the quantity of food my money purchased was astounding! We received many complements on our dinner from the guests. I can't recommend them highly enough!
