New Moon Restaurant, Montrose

Modern minimal decor, (not the dark Chinatown motif we remember from our childhood). Bright open room, impeccable place settings, a staff that will bend over backwards to accommodate you and any special needs. The food is fresh and made to order. There is a bit of New York (East Coast) flair to the food. Not your average California Chinese cuisine. The pork fried rice came with large chunks of pork, fresh vegetables, and seasoned rice, that appetizer combo was huge and easily served the four of us. The barbeque spare ribs were as I remembered them at The Sun Luck Restaurant in Manhattan. . (I am getting hungry as I write this!!) Let me end this before I become too verbose. My server and bus man were Meg & Kevin. Both have waited on me from the 1st time I discovered the New Moon. They treat and my parties like family. With the exception of a limited parking lot (plenty of street parking). This restaurant is the find of the decade (Shhhhhh. Keep this review is just between us.)

We had a 7pm reservation but came in at 6 hoping to get an early start - we were seated immediately. Calimari appetizer was fantastic, Wor Won Ton soup was great, Chloe Shrimp was good, but not great. Mongolian beef was good but bland. It should always be served on a sizzling platter - litigious state maybe? Service was absolutely perfect - very attentative without being intrusive, thank you Jonathan! Fabulous welcoming atmosphere, great wine/beer list. Perfect place to go with friends. Highly reccomend the appetizer menu. Large portions. It is great to have such a place here in Montrose. My prejudice is that I am half Chinese and my grandmother was a gourmet Chinese cook and I didn't expect gourmet chinese food. This place didn't disappoint at all. The only down side was the food was a bit bland, which doesn't live up to the menu descriptions. However, perfect seasonings are provided to taste - I would rather have bland and be able to add seasoning than have it over seasoned and not be able to do anything about it.

Currently, we drive 35 miles each way every week just for the very best Chinese food ever! Now we hear they are opening a restaurant in our home town! My only question is WHERE AND WHEN? The Candied Pecan Shrimp is the BEST!

You must go to New Moon. I strongly recommend it, and the food is awesome! The service is great, and I know a lot of kids enjoy it.

Strongly Recommended. With its simple contemporary d�cor, friendly staff, and great service, this is perhaps one of the best Chinese food restaurants in the area by far. The food is great, well prepared and tasty. They are family and kids friendly, at he same time, this place is perfect for a romantic dinner for couples! Parking may be a bit of a hassle, but, well worth it.
