Outstanding! ***** The best decision we could've made for our 32nd wedding anniversary was to dine at The Old Courthouse Restaurant in Newport, NH. The ambience is excellent—if I hadn’t been there in its original form I never would have known it was a courtroom. The service was wonderful and our server was quite cordial. I learned later that the dinner menu changes every month, so I was pleasantly surprised to know I was in a month for the Coconut crusted Scallops with grilled tomatillo lime sauce. They were extremely flavorful and cooked flawlessly. My wife had the Athens style grilled lamb chops, and I had the grilled NY strip with chorizo butter and both done to perfection. Pastry puffs stuffed with vanilla ice cream and drizzled chocolate and caramel syrups made me grateful I cheated on my diet. And my wife’s Crème Brule was delicious. We actually thought at first, the chocolate on the plate was the design of the plate…it was THAT defined! The prices were incredibly reasonable and Executive Chef Robert Steele has successfully added two more admirers of his talent. Thank you to the Old Courthouse for a memorable anniversary. Five Stars Dorien J Shull

Food is always great and the service is top notch very friendly but elegant. Very nice place to have a special dinner or lunch. I especially like the use of the historic building, well done preservation. We always stop in when up sking or boating.
