Description

When casino developer Michael Gaughan relinquished control of the Barbary Coast hotel and casino and decided to focus solely on his newest resort, South Point, he made it a point to relocate his namesake restaurant to his new digs. But that is the only change he was willing to make at the classic gourmet room, one of the last old Vegas dining experiences available. The new room is still warm and charming, the service impeccable, the steaks incredibly tender and the stone crab claws, when in season, are still the biggest, sweetest sea treasures to be found. This is a 50-seat gourmet eatery, so be sure to book in advance!

My 3 star rating is for the service only! service was great food just ok. I don t understand how folks are giving this restaurant a 4-5 star food rating. My onion soup was bland, lobster appetizer over cooked - making the lobster rubbery and hard to cut! My dinner entree was just ok; ordered the lamb chops - cooked to ordered but lack seasoning. Dessert cart very impressive but disappointed to learned that their desserts are not Made in house but bought from a outside retailer! One would think that a restaurant of this caliber would have a pastry chef on staff! Restaurant decor Was to me very funeral home like.- red velvet wall paper! I wouldn t say romantic like other reviews unless my date was a Vampire ! All in all very disappointing will not go back again.

I have changed my mind about staying at South Point, since they opened I have stayed there a minimum of 250 times, I have recommended SP to countless people, had dinner parties at Don Vitos from 10 people up to 30 and the list goes on and on. I will never stay there again. The front desk person tonight was rude and would not give me the information I requested and called me a liar. I have the email to prove I wasnt lying. I have cancelled my planned Christmas Party for 30 people there and my friends were going to go to the NY celebration, not anymore. There are other places in Las Vegas that will treat you better. I am so very disappointed, SP went from the only place I would stay to the place I will never stay again.

A 'great' horse event place. We are running barrels here this weekend and having a wonderful experience. This is our second time to compete here. Best horse event facility nationwide. No exceptions. Air conditioned environment for all. Incredible. A group of us here every year for barrel racing event held during National Finals Rodeo. Best Of facilities for any horse related event. Well done folks.

Gave me wrong card key, called lobby from phone in hall, refused to send up new card key, refused to send bellhop to help me carry suitcases there and back, made me walk down to the lobby to fix their mistake. Never apologized. Food wasn't very good. Apparently the management doesn't care...they never answered my complaint letter. First and last time!

Second time staying at the South Point. Great place to stay; clean, spacious, modern. I did regret that they don't have a shuttle to the strip. But I can't hold that against the hotel, I should have noticed it does not say free shuttle to strip, anymore. Calculate a $20+ one way cab fare to the lower end of the strip, or $34+ one way cab fare for downtown. I do not recommend the bus, what a headache trying to save a few bucks. You can't have a complete Vegas vacation without experiencing the strip, so if after calculating how often you'll need to go, this could still be an economical, nice place to stay.

Big generous rooms, clean, good value - but you have to look around for a good price (before Christmas 2008, they were $34 on one site) Parking is about a half mile from the room, and you have to go through most of the casino (in Vegas fashion). Ask for a coupon book - free drink, discount on coffee bar, 2 strings of beads. Food decent, not spectacular.

I am coming to town to visit my sister and family on November 10th. They shared that this was the spot to go. This will be my retreat when I am not with family, a place to relax, eat and be merry. I will write more after the visit to give you an update. Thanks,

We got a Birthday gift of 2 nights stay at South point and I'm telling you I had a great nights sleep. Couldn't hear anyone coming and going, as we were by the elevator. My husband is handicap. The food was really good especially Primarly Prime Rib. Great service and delicious food. My husband loved the penny slots and won some money so he was happy. I will definetly tell everyone about the grand place with alot of amenities.
