It was my very First time eating Indian food. (I am 45 years old). My wife and I went there in September on 2011. I must say that the food was so flavorfull that I don't understand the people that said it was bland?! we also had the house sangria which was amazing. The service was great as was the atmosphere. Just remember...Indian food is made to be spicy...that's where the flovor is...in the spices. At least order it with a little spice, they will give you a choice. If you order your food mild, it will have hardly any spice in it thus loosing all the flovor. Get it at least medium. I had mine Very hot. it was awesome. I will be back again!
The location is fine and the decor is nicely done. I can't comment on their dinners, but my experience there was with their lunch buffet. I found it to be lacking in much variety and what was there was neither hot nor flavorful. The butter chicken tasted like it was merely covered in tomato soup. Maybe the dinner is better or it might have been an off-day. But there are better Indian buffets around.
Bawarchi is the better of the two local Indian restaurants I have visited. (The other being in Northwood-Clearwater.) Lunch buffet is good, Tues night vegetarian buffet dinner is good. We have eaten there no less than 25 times in the past 8 years. Food is fresh and good, service is friendly, owner is the cook and makes sure it is all good and well prepared.
I am taking my mom there for Mother's Day and I will report back how it goes. I like Indian food so much I have taught myself how to cook it. Though I don't expect the food at Bawarchi's to taste as good as mine, I'm able to tell if they are in the ball park or not. Watch for my post.
