I'm also not sure who is writing the positive reviews, but my guess would be that they have little experience with Thai food. I have had Noi's Panang Curry, Massaman Curry, and Tofu Cashew dishes, hoping to land on something good, but no luck. I really wanted to like Noi's since it's right down the road from me, but it just a disappointment.
Most of the problem centers around one fact: The curry sauces are so thin that they're broth-like. This is a huge departure from the normally thick and creamy sauces of every other restaurant I've visited in my life. I don't know why this is, but it's almost as though there is no coconut cream in the curry.
Aside from that, the flavors are good, but barely there. The lunch portions are small for the price (I get just full on $8, and that's if I eat the mound of rice that comprises half of the meal and masks the already weak taste of the sauce). As I recall, however, the dinner portions are very large. The atmosphere and staff are nice, too.
If you like curry, Noi's would be the last place I'd recommend, followed by Thai Basil. Suwana's Thai Orchid on Tunnel Road offers superior curry in larger lunch portions for the same price. Go there!
