Dakota's Roadhouse of Jackson, Llc
welcome to Dakota's Roadhouse where the rich history and natural beauty of South Dakota were the inspiration for a restaurant that delivers the big bold flavors of the Wild West right here in Southern Ohio .from our BBQ Ribs to hand-cut steaks, our meals are hearty enough to satisfy the hungriest cowboy on the cattle drive. And well, our commitment to quality, it's as strong as the legends like WILD BILL HICKOK and CALAMITY JANE who helped tame the Dakota Territory.
We went to have a prime rib dinner. I requested the 20 oz, grilled. When it was brought to the table it didn t have grill marks and was all but raw, bloody. I sent it back again requesting it to be grilled. The steak was brought out again and again when cut the blood run all over the plate and again no grill marks. I will not send a meal back three times for fear the staff will do something to my food. really disappointed. I m guessing the cook wanted to eat the steak so they fixed it the way they wanted it. It was a $25 meal and no manager was interested enough to come to the table. The management has really gone down hill and the staff has no buss boys so they can not clean table and wait tables so there is always big lines during rush hour but lots of open tables. It would be a good place to start a nice restaurant.
Dakota's is a fine steak house. Yes, it is one of the few choices to choose from in the small town of Jackson. However, it is one of a couple places that serve alcoholic beverages and has the greatest variety of drinks in the county. Their margarita's are something to brag about! Something to consider however, in my travels, I find the people of southern Ohio to be of a different breed. They tend to be rude in general and I would like to emphasize it's the area not the restaurant. The restaurant has seen a change in management in the past couple of months and there is much anticipation of making better the already good atmosphere. The menu is a typical roadhouse style down to the peanuts and rolls. The food is good and the price is quite fair. Be aware, people drive from all over southern Ohio to eat the prime rib making the restaurant quite popular on the weekends. A wait is always typical and it can be up to an hour long. The wait alone speaks for its self, if people are willing to wait an hour the place can't be that bad.
If Melina is your waitress, ask for another. She doesnt pay fair attention to customers, and doesnt bring rolls after you ask 5 times. She also added herself a nice little $14 dollar tip to my bill since i didnt give her one. I tried to call but guess what the Steak house is closed on monday. What kind of freakin Steak House is closed on monday?
We went to Dakota's to eat on Mother's Day. We knew it would be busy and it was. We arrived at approx. 12:30 Sunday. The couple in front of us was told 30 min. I told them there was six of us and we were told that it would be three hours. Because large parties had made reservations. Something I didn't know they did. I have eaten here before and know just about all the table serve at least 4 people. We would have been perfectly satisfied setting side by side (just close). That would have not been a problem the problem was the hostess, she was just very rude. We decided to go to Bob Evans it was also crowded and we had to wait approx. 30 min and that was ok, the hostess there was very friendly. The funny thing while we waited we spoke to another family which had also tried Dakota's and were told it would be 3 hours then mentioned how rude the hostess was to them. It doesn't take much to be nice to people and if you can't be then you shouldn't have the job as hostess. Especially on Mother's Day. We never expected just to walk in and be seated and I am always very patient we wait all the time at places to be seated. That wasn't the problem. If you have ever ate at Cracker Barrel, Olive Garden or Texas Roadhouse you know you have to wait. Rude is rude and as I said we were not the only people to say she was rude other people from church also had the same problem. We have always worked with the public and it takes alot of patients so maybe the next time you should not speak of that of which you do not know. Where you there. Also we just said thank you and left and she really didn't deserve that, but I am polite to everyone, we even tip for bad service maybe not as much as we would for good service, but were the type of people we know that servers count on tips.I have never had a problem with any of their servers they have always been very very nice and friendly. So don't be so quick to judge. We eat a Dakota's alot I didn't say anything about their food it is very good. But being polite takes very little energy. Don't you even think three hours was a little rediculous. An hour maybe think about it how many people could eat in an hour of even two! Again it was the hostess no one else. So why don't you use COMMON SENSE the next time you have something to say when you don't even know the people you are commenting about. Because you didn't read very well nobody made a seen or said anything out of the way. We just left.
Dakota's is the best restaurant in town. I had fish with sides (baked apple and vegetables). All were pretty good. They have a fantastic happy hour, but a very poor selection of beer on tap and even in bottles. The restaurant has a really cool ambiance, but the servers are terrible, despite the freiendly people in the area. Don't expect great service in rural Ohio though. Every server I had acted like they couldn't give a hoot.
