Best restaurant in Southport. Don’t let the somewhat “rustic” looks of the place fool you. This fine restaurant has great food and friendly service. While it is somewhat pricey, it’s definitely worth the money. I personally like the veal offerings (especially the veal picatta) that are different from day to day. If you have one that you especially like, and it’s not on the menu that day, have your server ask the wonderful Chef to make it special for you --- most of the time he will oblige (how great is that!). I just can’t say enough good things about this restaurant.
We have been LOVING Long Beach for 25 years! Mr. P's just keeps getting better!
We used to go for dinner when it ws on the waterfront, and sit on the screened in porch. Now, it has moved inland a bit, but is still some of the most awesome food we have ever eaten! The people are so friendly and lovely too. Last October, we made the trip TWICE from Long Beach- once for the fried oysters, then for some crabcakes and steak! We were not dissapointed.
My wife and I went to Mr. P's for dinner. After being seated we ordered drinks from the bar. the server brought us water and we ordered appetizers and entrees. When we received the appetizers we still had not gotten our bar drinks. After receiving the entrees a roach fell from the ceiling and landed on the table (yes a Cockroach fell on our table). When we informed the server she did not seem surprised by this event. We did not finish our diner, and still paid 98$. We never heard from anyone of any authority. The food aside from the roach attack was mediocre at best. For price there are better options in Southport. I would never recommend.
My husband and inlaws and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner last evening at Mr P's Bistro in Southport. We dined on excellent crab dip for an appetizer that did not overwhelm anyone with seasoning but was anything but bland. I enjoyed their crab-cakes which came with 2 sides. Their fried-green tomatoes are not to be missed if they are the vegetable du jour. They offer plenty of specials both listed and unlisted. They are pricey for every night dining but great for special nights out and the food is well worth it. Our server, Tara, was excellent as well. She was informative about the food and also witty and a good conversationalist. If you haven't been, you need to go and ENJOY!
Friend of ours have a house in Southport. We went with them the first time in the winter and had a wonderful time. The food was great, a little expensive but worth it. That night we had the prime rib, great dish.
I took my grandmother back this spring and we went twice. The first time we came in near closing and they still treated us great, did not rush us out at all. Salmon with fresh blue cheese a hit!
We went back two nights later and service and food were wonderful. We both had the prime rib, cooked to perfection! The apps are great too....
