I visited the tea room for lunch today with two of my friends and was witness to the most appalling display of ignorance and hostility I could imagine. An obnoxious group of young people arrived nearly an hour late for their reservation. (I know this because when we walked in without a reservation we were asked to return in 45 minutes to accommodate the large group.) Although two members of the party had arrived on time, all the rest just walked in, as if everyone would drop everything for them. Our table was immediately next to the group, so we heard every word of conversation. They were so angered by being asked to please proceed with their order that they began to berate their waitresss and make ridiculous demands! For a moment it was as if we had encountered a toddler tea party. W... (more)hen my friend complained about the group's loud and disruptive behavior, the manager apologized and promised to try to keep the group calm. No luck! They yelled at their waitress that they 'should have gone to Golden Corral.' (Quite right, you should have. Your group would fit right in.) They purposely dropped flatware to the floor, to be retrieved by the waitress. They ordered multiple drinks each, for the sole purpose of 'making more work' for the staff. Finally, the manager was forced to ask the group to leave. We could have hugged her!
This tea room is a beautiful, classic example of what a fine Tea Room should be. It is not the place for loud and obnoxious behavior, crude language, and bad manners. When you visit, expect this wonderful staff to treat you like a guest. The food is outstanding; the prices are reasonable. Visit soon and visit often!
