My wife and I went for dinner on 3/14/12. The service was terrible and the food was worse than the service! I had Seafood Fettuccine, advertised to include jumbo seared scallops and skewered shrimp. The 5 or 6 JUMBO scallops were small bay scallops, about the size of a small mini-marshmellow. There were 5 shrimp, not much larger than a quarter on a skewer, about the consistancy of potato chips. All the seafood was seriously over cooked - tough and with little flavor. Basically, this was $13 for a bowl of very average noodles. My wife had the Country fried Steak. There were 2 very decent size pieces. Problem: they were obviously purchased breaded and frozen and stuck in an oven to warm. They were like trying to eat cardboard, and about as flavorable. This came with perhaps a generous tablespoon size serving of county gravey on one of the pieces of mystry meat - none on the bland scoop of potatos. It would take too long to describe the service. Suffice it to say, it was bloody awful - incompetent and amaturish.
My advice is to stay away - FAR AWAY - form Mimi s at the Bell Tower! Pure crap, and the worst meal out I ve had in at least 15 yrs, and perhaps ever.
Went there for my birthday and ordered the Chicken Cordon Blue. Also, received a cake at the request of my parents (who were visiting) at the end of the meal. Several hours later I began to have severe abdominal pain along with sweating/chills. I felt it was a good time to lay down and try to relax. This did not last long as I spent the REST of the night in the bathroom throwing up, accompanied by severe diarrhea. This was the olny food that I consumed during my birthday and all of the symptoms are that of food poisoning. It's too bad because it's a very nice place with a good atmosphere. However, at the cost of my health and well being I would advise to eat elsewhere.
Very impressed with another Kelly choice. This is a New Orleans style resturant with a Claim Jumper attitude about food. LOTS OF IT. I was happy with the food and OK with the price. The surrounding and the service was awesome. Too bad Tina is done with Mimi's and moving on to bigger and better things. Congrats TINA!!!!!
I had heard good things about Mimi's Cafe, so we decided to stop in for lunch on the way to the airport. I was surprised how busy it was, but I guess everywhere is at this time of year. The menu was large, but there weren't a whole lot of vegetarian selections so I ordered the turkey sandwich sans turkey (weird, I know, but the rest of the sandwich sounded so good thats what I wanted.) Anyway, the waitress had a hard time coming to grips with my order, gave me attitude, pointed out what she would give me instead, and when I insisted (politely of course!) she sulked and ignored me for the rest of the meal. Luckily for Mimi's the food, atmosphere and rest of the serving staff were good, otherwise I have no problem not recommending it. Get there early for lunch in high season as there was a huge crowd waiting when we left!
