In Florida's Key West, Salsa Loca is popular with the crowd for its first-class Mexican food. It has yellow walls and strings of chilli-pepper lights to enhance the South American feel. The food is excellent and there are options for people who prefer to go vegetarian. You can try the Alambre for $12.95 or a Grilled Tortilla Sandwich stuffed with Peppery Chicken for $9.75. Dinner for two, with Mexican beer, will cost you a mere $40. The restuarant is relatively cheap and it also has a patio in the back.
You might just walk by this place thinking it's a little inside restaurant, but go through the front and to the back is a wide open place with umbrellas at each table in cute Mexican decor. The food is unbelievably good Mexican food, which is hard to find. And the prices must be a mistake. Two of us ate for under $20 with enough food for 4 people. Service may be a little slow, but worth it.
We will be back.
I stumbled upon this restraunt by chance, as I was prowling Duval Street and looking for a meal that wasn't served at a loud bar or another tourist trap. Unsure of what I was searching for, I told my wife we'd stop at the first place that struck our fancy and brought us in. We saw this restraunt and didn't think of stopping until we saw a plate being served and caught a wiff of the food. The menu is huge, with a number of options and great prices for everything. My wife and I were served huge plates of food and left with a bill under $20. The food was delicious and we actually came back for a second time it was so good.
This is a truely unique resturant. I have been going to Key West for 3 years now and a friend told me about this place. I make a habit of eating there every time I'm in town. They have very different items on the menu and it is always good. I try different items and have never been disappointed. Another very good thing, espically if you are Southern,,is they have SWEET TEA! The atmosphere and service is good too.
