My boyfriend and I decided to try out this place because of the reviews and ads in newspaper. I thought that there could have been a bigger selection for the buffet. I did like how they gave out porrie for the buffet. Some food selections I thought were a little bit dry. Maybe it depends on certain tastebuds. The hostess was really nice, kept removing our plates and refilling our water. We went on a Saturday at 12 and parking was a little bit hard to find
This place is great everytime I go there. The Buffet is outstanding and the service can't be beat. The dinners are the best that I have ever had of Indian Food. Everything I have tried on the menu has been wonderful tasting and the service is always warm and attentive. I will always come back.
Excellent north Indian food. Very reasonable price. We were a group of 18 people who went there and were a bit apprehensive as we ordered a variety of items from their menu. But all the things we ordered were excellent and their service was very good too.
I have been to many Indian restaurants in Bay area, and Bay Leaf serves the best spicy North Indian style dishes for a very reasonable price of $7.95 for the lunch buffet. Fresh made and hot naan is served on the table. The restaurant is clean and comfortable. The food is very authentic and full of flavor. I have taken many friends and coworkers there, and everybody liked the food very much.
Just went to bayleaf last week. Was not expecting anything outstanding, but it totally proved me wrong. The ambiance is beautiful. Classy and sophisticated. Perfect for an evening out.
Their 'garlic naan' (indian bread) is SUPERB. The butter chicken is taste of heaven. The fish is VERY fresh, unlike a lot of fish served in the bay area. I could go on about the rest of the items on the menu, but you should check out the place for yourself.
P.S. Service is EXCELLENT!!! =D
Bay Leaf Cuisine catered for my entire wedding celebrations in March 2008. We had 3 big parties (including the wedding reception) and they did a great job with all the events. From the first time we met for a consultation with Inder, the owner of Bay Leaf, we knew we were in good hands. Over the course of a few meetings, we discussed menu choices and tasted samples of different items on the menu and with each item we tried, we knew we had made the right choice with our decision to go with Bay Leaf.
They say that the food at a wedding either makes it or breaks it and if that's the case, my wedding was for sure a success. We had all sorts of appetizers, main courses, and desserts for the events, and they even made the tandoori chicken on site at my reception in their tandoor (clay oven) so that the final result wasn't compromised by using a standard oven! We sampled many delicious foods that unfortunately didn't make it to the final menu, but I think overall my favorites had to be the Chicken Makhani (Butter Chicken), Fish Tikka and Chicken Tikka Masala, Paneer, and the Rasmalai and Gulab Jaman for dessert.
The entire presentation was perfect too, the copper serving pots really showcased everything so well and made the food look that much more appealing. Each dish had it's own uniqueness and jolted our taste buds each time.
All of our guests, even the pickiest ones, were impressed with the food and could not stop raving about the delicious and high quality food. Everything was so fresh and even though Indian food tends to be on the spicier side, all the dishes were just right for the various palates.
The service provided by Bay Leaf was excellent and we were taken very good care of, from start to finish.
On a side note, the times when I went to the restaurant, the wait staff was always attentive to our needs; refilling our waters when they were half full (good sign!), checking in with us for any additional needs, and always friendly. The restaurant is located in the corner of a shopping center and once inside, the Bollywood music definitely added to the atmosphere. Also, the prices are really reasonable and, of course, worth every penny.
Overall, I love Bay Leaf (in case you couldn't tell) and I refer everyone I know to both the restaurant and the catering that they offer. We have found our favorite Indian restaurant in the Bay and even though I am in the East Bay, I am more than willing to head out to San Jose just to get a taste of some great Indian cooking. I'm looking forward to my next visit full of flavorful and fantastic food!
This place is fantastic. The food is truly delicious. This is definately my favorite Indian restaurant in the Bay Area. I'm lucky enough to live close by and go here often. Service is great and the owner and his stafff is very attentive and helpful. We always get tips on what to eat and we've loved it all so far. If this place was in a more visable location it would be jam packed every weekend. The only reason I marked down Ambiance is because the place is still rather empty on the weekends. The restaurant itself is nice and the interior completely re-done. I hope lots more people find their way to this awesome restaurant.
Excellent north indian food and really feel like back in home.
The food is marvelous and reasonable price with bar and excellent wine/liquor serving.
Would strongly recommend for weekend dinner's or buffet for a steal @ $7.99
Had a party out there and had booked the place for our wedding anniversary and it was a BLAST !
The tandoor food is simple amazing and value for money with open liquor bar and the right ambiance.
Strongly recommend it for a romantic dinner or simple having a taste of North Indian food unlike some south indian restuarant which try to sell North Indian food.
