My fiance and I were excited about eating fresh seafood from a restaurant near the Gulf. I ordered the fried fish (Alaskan pollock) and shrimp platter, which was very flavorless, bland, and boring. I tried to add flavor with the bottle of tartar sauce at the table, but that as well was flavorless. The shrimp was butterflied but still had black intestine strings within the shrimp, and sometimes carelessly fried into the batter. The soda there is in cans, and is $2.00 a can! My fiance had a Captains combination plate that had the fried fish and shrimp as well, with fried oysters, fried mussels, and stuffed crab. He as well did not finish his plate, as the food was very bland. The stuffed crab was probably the only thing that was decent, so we resorted to sharing it. All in all, food was way overpriced, even for the large portions you receive. Don't waste your money.
Great food but even better is plenty of elbow room and pleasant staff. I love that I can enjoy my people without waitstaff bumping into me to get to the next table like most popular restaraunts! Food is reasonably priced too.
I had heard good things about this restaurant in the past, but it is not that way anymore.
The food was so-so and the service was slow. The atmosphere was dark, dingy, and loud.
I think the only positive thing to be said about the Big Fisherman is that if you have a group of 10 or more, they have the seating to accomodate you.
Not worth going back to in my opinion. There are much better restaurants food-wise and service-wise in the area!
This restaurant used to be a good place to eat. It has been going downhill for a while now. The last time I was there will be the last.
Two people in my party ordered the jumbo bacon wrapped scallops, which turned out to be tiny bay scallops wrapped in bacon. They were smaller around than a dime. The slaw was spoiled and was producing a pungent rotten odor. We were overcharged by an entire meal when we received our bill. We asked to speak to the manager and were told he was busy and to talk to him on the way out. We spoke to him on the way out and were told that he didn't care that we were overcharged for getting a disgusting dinner. We let him know that we would not pay full price and finally, after more than a half hour of him trying to avoid us, had to tell him that he had 5 minutes to settle the bill or we were walking without paying. We cornered him and he cut the bill to about half of what it originally was, which was still a total ripoff. We paid and left, never to return.
Do yourself a favor and never go to the Big Fisherman.
So over rated,,I guess great for tourist that will never be back..Have never had a complete order without sending food back..Wait people very nice,,management very rude. Very greasy and usually cold..Sorrry,I send out of towners there, they go for the name...Save on the over sized portions, spend more time improving the quality.
I was very disappointed, we had a family get-together for the holiday and the service was bad. The establishment was not busy nor was it the waitress fault. She was the only one that was serving our party of 17! She made out like a badit with our tips. (Bad Cook) Cold food and wrong orders. advise ask for two waitresess and return cold shrimp
