"Rather ordinary Japanese food, but if you're local, I guess it would be OK"

Strange crowd at the bar scene with hookers and all.Stick with the sushi because the cooked meats are tough as nails

"One of the most underrated sushi joints year in year out. I make sure to frequent this establishment at least once a month. Never had a complaint with the food or service, it's always top notch. The decor is better than you would think for a relatively inexpensive restaurant. Don't forget to check out the bar, it's got a solid drink selection and you definitely get your moneys worth!"

"Traditional char-grilled Japanese treats; there's the usual sushi, done well, and some slightly unusual sushi, but the most interesting items are those straight off the grill. Good sake and liquor selection. Excellent happy hour offerings. Dark and sleek atmosphere."

Very special place. The traditional Japaneese fare is wonderful but the Robata grilled food is really special. Just pick one or more of about 30 skewers that each are a grilled delicacy by the time they are served. Good Sake selection.

"If you want a quiet place with good sushi, this is it. I like my food to ring, not my ears. "

"It must have been an off night, the kitchen was slow and the service was worse. The drinks were on the house because of the one hour wait for food, but the food wasn't all that great when it did arrive. It's a great looking place with a cool theme, but it just doesn't deliver. Won't be visiting Butai again."

Excellent food. We had the soft shell crab in a soup of some sort that was out of this world! Great sake martinis too.
