We really enjoy going here. The food is very good and the prices are inline with what you'd expect to pay for a good dinner out. (Pastas for $14-$16 and dinner entrees in the $20's). The staff is the best. Only one waiter was a bit slow but he's not been around lately. The Chef is a gracious host and went out of his way to make our evening out memorable when they were extra busy. A great place.
Rebecca Jacobs and Aimee Sigala have created not just a restaurant, not just a wine-bar but an entire experience. The high ceilings, wood beams and hand-built bar create an open, airy and warmly sophisticated ambience. This is my favorite local restaurant.
The wine list is filled with lots of local wines that are otherwise hard-to-find. And there is always someone available to help you choose the perfect taste for your mood.
I particularly like the freshness of the locally grown ingredients that Chef Ty magically turns into subtle and surprising works of art. One of my favorites, the Pan Roasted Alaskan Halibut, is delicate and moist every time. The saffron cream sauce is such a perfect compliment along with the creamy golden beet risotto. The salads are so amazingly bright and fresh that they are as much a treat for the eye as for the palate.
For a light meal try one of Ty’s crispy-crusted pizzas. With the smoky wood-oven flavor permeating every bite, you’ll fall instantly and permanently in love.
If you enjoy more exotic flavors, don’t miss the Juniper Berry Duck Breast. The duck will melt in your mouth and is perfectly paired with a Port Scarlett Orange Sauce and Crispy Sun-dried Tomato Polenta. And the soups (my favorite is the seafood bisque) are the best in the business.
My favorite appetizer is the Dungeness Crab Cakes. There are no fillers in this mouth orgasm; just sweet crab and fresh vegetables. I’ve never tasted better. My friend feels the same way about the Ahi Tuna Carpaccio – fresher than even the local sushi bars!
Please make this a part of your Santa Maria/Santa Barbara wine country tour. You’ll be back. I promise.
I have been to the Wine Cottage Bistro many times, and have always been very happy with the service and food. Chef Troy is continually coming up with new items for the menu. It's great to finally have a nice, wine country style restaurant here in the Santa Maria area!
This is a nice little restaurant. The atmosphere is lovely and the staff is generally very pleasant. We tried it again, but the food is only getting worse, sadly I think we won't visit again. The owners never seem to be there anymore and maybe that is why the quality is suffering.
It's a nice little restaurant with a pleasant atmosphere and beautiful paintings from various artist. The food is very good but priced high. The cost of the specials are not known; you have to inquire. The wines are excellent. A plus was a complimentary birthday dessert.
