I would not go here for any b.day parties or a group of people, we were rushed out after 1 hr and 1/2 and our bill was 1200 for about 20ppl. Its not filling at all, but the fact we had to leave it wasn t classy after sending 1200!
I am a Santa Barbara local and I love Zaytoon! This is my favorite spot to bring my family and friends from out of town. It has a beautiful atmosphere and the food is great! My husband and I were there recently for our anniversary and the owner Hani made it very special. You have to try it! You will not regret it!
I mostly liked the atmosphere. The tables are so authentic (reminded me of Lebanon) and the music too. Moreover, the lamb shawarma with a Tabulli side and Hummus made my whole visit complete. My husband had Falafel and chicken shawarma and liked it too.
The waiter was aware of our needs before we ask for it (eg. refilled the bread before it's finished)
In my opinion, I'll have to go there about once/2 weeks (since it's far from where I live) otherwise twice a week if you're near by.
I'd like to go Zaytoon after dark and smoke a hukka pipe with friends, sitting around the fire place.
I enjoy Zaytoon's oversized burgundy velvet chairs and window paned rooms. I like to eat lunch there with a photographer friend. I'm beginning to equate the two. He's a regular and the Brazilian waitresses love him.
Kenji always orders the beef shwarma. Need I say more? I ordered the chicken shwarma once, and I most definately enjoyed it but I'm off meat right now so I've been eating the falafel plate. I don't generally like falafels other than mine or those from that cool restaurant in Santa Cruz, on Highway 1 North on your way out of town. That place has the best damn falafels.
I like the falafel plate at Zaytoon. I've ordered other food but I'll order the falafel plate next time. The falafel plate has a smaller portion of the dinner salad and the falafel plate comes with hummus. I recommend the lentil soup too. They have a nice wine list. Added bonus.
