Our kids have been taking lessons here since they were five. We come here (from Ephraim) 5-7 times during our two week vacation every summer. I have not found anything at home that can match this experience. She is a character, ethical, caring, but not much of a market wiz. She is what she is. But, boy is she great with children and horses. Will not let a child take the reins until they can make it around the entire ring without dropping plastic eggs from plastic spoons. Took my oldest one year (8 lessons). He had just turned five. He is a great horseman now, with great hands. No one in my area is that patient with kids. Yes, a bit gruff - but look beyond that - she is wonderful.
I have been to the area only twice. I called to set up a riding experience for my husband and I last year and the lady on the phone was very short and rude on the phone with me. At the time I dismissed it because anyone can have a bad day. This weekend I called again to see their rates and hours etc. and once again I received a very short blunt rather rude response "We're full". Not a "We're sorry about that and hope you try us again, etc." I called another corral in the area and they were so friendly and accommodating. Ahnapee didn't have an e-mail address otherwise I'd let them know about this customer service issue. Maybe they give great service once you're there in person but wow their phone etiquette could use a big improvement.
Our granddaughters (ages 9 and 5) loved the experience. They got a private lesson that including how to groom and get to know the horse, how to handle the horse, how to balance on the horse. It was much better than the quick instructions before a trail ride.
