I SANG ON THE STAGE AT THE VICTORIA THEATER ON JULY 1, 2011, AND TONIGHT, 10-07-2011. THEY ARE THE NICEST !!!! BUNCH OF PEOPLE TO WORK WITH. SO FRIENDLY, AND HELPFUL. THEY MADE MY PERFORMING THERE A TRUE LOVELY EXPERIENCE, LUANN MCGILL
I always go to the Victoria Theater each month. The show is great and all of the entertainers including Earl Brown who impersonates Elvis, they all really put their hearts into the show~ I especially like ''THE BUFFINGTON BROTHERS" Dave and Dino!! they sure do an excellent performance with songs of the 50's 60's .........If you haven't made it to see the show, you don't know what your missing!! :)
After 20 years of running the 20k wheeling Race and always wanted to see the show here, I finally (FINALLY) got my first chance in October of this year. Being pretty much a city boy from Pittsburgh all I can say is that you have to see the show to believe it. I realy felt like I was back in the 1970s watching Hee Haw at times. Earl & the pther performers were talented and very nice. The show was a hoot at times too. The Victoria Theater is a classic building too and the architecture is stunning. The show is family oreinted too.
So Earl (Elvis) loves 50s music. Big deal. It's his building and I'd rather support his and keep this place open than allow it to be sold go to the developers.
Overall, I loved everything about my experience. Only comment is that I wish the show would start 7:30 or 8:00 pm. Those living outside Wheeling have to fight Rt. 70 traffic to get there after work. Also, there are many singers, jazz bands, etc. who would love to perform at the Victoria. Here's hoping Earl can share this beautiful space with other musical talent.
Support this gem of a place. Has the best popcorn I have every had too!
I took in the show this past week and must say I was impressed by many of the entertainers. There was one man who sang He stopped loving her today by geoerge Jones, and a real pretty girl with glasses that I thought was extremely good. I would love to go visit there again But it appears to me that they only do oldies Music and I would much rather see a mixture of some oldies with some newer music. I thought that the Elvis Impersonator was decent though. and the over all atmosphere was good. If they start dong some newer music I might concider going back. This is one of Wheelings Nicest places to visit. its a shame they dont do more up to dat material. My opinion only
This will be the 5th YEAR our group comes from Waynesburg Pa. a trip of l hour that is unmatched in the TRI STATE area for talent, atmosphere, and VALUE. If you never been to the VICTORIA THEATER you have missed one of Wheeling Best Kept secrets. I hope you all keep playing.......R/K Waynesburg Pa.
We have visited the Victoria Theater for quite some time and find that the entertainment is excellent for country fans and more. We always have a group of 8 or more and we all travel to the Wheeling area and meet for dinner before going to the theater.
The music always has a great blend of religious, country, and old songs that almost anyone can enjoy. The people at the theater all are friendly ,warm and accomadating. They also have the Elvis section of the show which everyone just loves. This complete experience for a small fee is so very well worth it and everyone always has a great time. The show always has something different, which keeps us coming back. We all are big fans of everyone there.Take my advice and go, you won't be sorry.
Like most places in Wheeling The Victoria Theater has been on a down hill slide for quite sometime. They have lost many of the regular attendees in part because of the recent rate increase for getting in the venue, and also for moving the shows from Friday evenings to Saturday evenings. I really did not understand that move at all.
The quality of entertainment has even changed as well as the personal touch from those who are on Stage. My last visit there I went to see Franny because I loved her singing and she left after about the third song in the evening. I tried to speak to her and she snubbed me.
I really liked the mother Daughter team that sang but even they were kinda Snobby. As a regular who attends If I could ask one thing it would be to bring back Howdy Grant, Verla PRice, and Brandon Cunning. and go back to Fridays because the theater will not survive if it stays on Saturdays especially if the Jambaree gets going at Westbanco Arena.
OH YEA PLEASE DEAR GOD get over the 50's will yah????? lets see some new entertainment. Most of the entertainers there want to do other stuff But they are not permitted because of the guy in charge wants Nothing but 50's well ok You got Elvis is that not enough 50's GEESH
OK IM DONE
I have been to the Victoria Theater numerous times, I am a Huge fan of many of the preformers. Like Howdy Grant, Bobby Buck, and Brandon Cummings, But I especially Like The Bass Singer Russ Buchanan. He also plays Guitar and sings. He truly has a Velvety Voice that makes the girls swoon, His style is to be in comparison with greats like Jim Reeves and Teenessee Ernie Ford, and more recently Josh Turner. Someone give this guy the break he deserves, he really has potential. As for the Earl, (Elvis guy), Well he owns the building so I guess he is OK. Not My pick of the crop. But he does have some ability to hold the interest in the crowd.
