Blenko Glass Company
Blenko has been making hand-blown glass since 1921. From a special observation deck, visitors can observe the various steps in handcrafting glass. The first floor of Blenko's Visitor Center is the factory outlet area and many examples of the craftsman's art. On the second floor, nine leading American stained glass studios have each contributed an example of their artistry for display in the Designer's corner.
I realy enjoyed our visit to Blenko. It was educational and fun at the same time. The finished products were beautiful. Everyone was very nice and the gift shop was stocked with the beautiful art they had made. I had to buy some to take home and enjoy everyday! I will definitely be back again. We may even make it an annual stop!
If you're looking for a W.Va. souvenier a piece (or pieces) of Blenko glass is one of the top choices.
You get to watch the artisans blow the glass that they sell in the gift shop. It's interesting, educational and hot.
I will definately return next year for another piece.
I visited Blenko in the early 90's with my mom. We had a great time. I especially enjoyed watching the artisans blow the glass vases. Also enjoyed the beautiful glass in the gift shop. I would definiately go back if given the chance.
