Reviews for Benjy's Harley-Davidson Motorcycle Museum: 5

Readers should be aware that the Motorcycle Museum at Benjy's Harley-Davidson sadly has been discontinued by the current owner of the dealership. Benjy's collection is not currently on public display, and the dealership is no longer owned by Benjy.
Also RE the review regarding a t-shirt shopper being followed, readers should be aware at the time of that review in mid-2007 that new management had assumed control of the dealership. Benjy was no longer associated with the dealership at that time.
My husband and I were on vacation from NC and stopped to get a T shirt. The sales clerk asked if she could help. We said we were just looking. She followed us everywhere we went. I got the impression she thought we were going to steal something b/c she was on our heels the whole time. My husband bought a shirt but I wouldn't even buy one I was so aggravated. I suggest you inform your sales clerks to be a little more discreet when watching customers. I understand some people do steal, but not "Everyone". I was just ready to go and you could have made a sale of more than one t shirt if she had just used a little tact. We have family there and I told them of my experience and they also said they had gone there and felt the same way, as if someone thought they were going to steal.
We did eat at the little diner and it was friendly and had good food.
Benjy's is a Harley dealership, so you can buy everything Harley there. They have a diner that is done in 50's style, reminiscent of Happy Days, and the food is excellent! Attached to the main shop is a museum. Benjy has everything from the earliest models, complete with tin cans for carbs, to one of Evel Knievel's bikes. You can get a brief history of Harley in the racing industry, complete with bikes and uniforms, or you can check out the newer, limited edition models. My kids beg to go there. The place is absolutely awesome and it's free!
While traveling a friend and I were looking for differend Harley Shops to buy T-shirts and other items as gifts. I had no idea what I was in for when we drove the 90 miles out of our way for this shop. It was a great experience. There was a great selection of bikes that were all afforadbly priced. There were so many shirts and differebt types of gear that you could not imagine. There was somethere for all ages even babies---as well as a great selection of toys. As we were checking out we were ask if we would like to visit the museum. We did and you would not believe the set up from early ages all the way to todays bikes with explainations for all that we saw. I would definately reccomend that if you are anywhere close-drive on over. I know that I will be going back again to share this with my husband and family......all from a womans point of view.
There are no pictures but I saw it in person. Benjy's Museum in Huntington WVa. is absolutely the best museum I have seen. The motor cycles are staged on a time-line. Each stage is lighted with fiber optic lighting. The stages, sets, motor cycles and art are so captivating you just want to sit down on the floor and let your mind go back to that time. I think Harley Davidson corporate has just had the bar raised for their new museum.
