Augusta Heritage Center, Elkins

This is a national treasure. They have been offering about 200 workshops from story telling, weeds for your needs, to chair making, instrument making, to dulcimer, guitar, banjo and a ton of other instruments. the yhave been in session for 25 years or more. The instruction is top notch although the dorm accomodations are dorm accomodations. What really sells this experience is the great people that you meet there. They are usually folks from professions that you never have any reason to come across like a mandolin student who was a photographer for National Geographic. The jam sessons at night are great and you can sing and play until your lungs burst or your fingers can't move. For $400 tuition and $200 room you can't beat it. Try to be ther during one of the music weeks. Irish week is the big one.

I go to Augusta ever year for Bluegrass Week and I think that it is the best way to spend your money.... I think that everyone should go there atleast once in there lifetime...
