Response to "negative" bumper stickers
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/07/08
I am the owner of Frog Creek Books. In response to the person who described the bumper stickers in my check-out area as "negative." : One sticker says, "Think Globally, Act Locally" which means that in order to make effective "positive" change for the planet, we must do so on a local level...buy locally produced food to save on transport fuels, give to local charities, etc. The other sticker says: "Almost Level West Virginia: Stop Mountaintop Removal" If you are not familiar with this meathod of coal extraction, Google it and learn more. You will be shocked at the swath of environmental and economic devastation perpetrated by the coal companies upon our beautiful state. Mountaintop Removal is the "negative" not the sticker. I make no apolgies. Any independent bookstore worth its weight will be politically involved. That is a proud part of our history. Sincerely, Mike Sublette, owner of Frog Creek Books
