I stayed in the new motel section of this older place, so I cannot comment on the less expensive, older rooms. My room had great, easy-to-connect free Wi-Fi, a larger-than-average room refrigerator and a microwave. The tub had power jets. The room was large, fresh, cheerful and had a very good reading chair with hassock. Best of all, the mattress was an excellent, firm model. I paid $75 AARP rate, plus tax.
Lunch in the dining room was good but not great. In addition to a free, generic, continental breakfast in the breakfast room, coffee and cookies seemed to be on offer all day.
The hotel was way over-priced for the general area they were located. The two young women working at the front desk on the evenings of 6/1/07 and 6/2/07 were the unfriendliest women we've encountered through-out the whole state of West Virginia. We traveled extensively throughtout this great state and were treated with utmost respect and friendliness everywhere else.
These teen- age gals were rude and very unprofessional, one ate cereal at the front desk while the other read the newspaper and when we went to get coffee at the lobby and greeted them with a friendly "good morning", neither one acknow-ledged us at alland continued with their business.
These women need to take a dozen courses on how to treat their customers with respect!!!!! We will NEVER stay at this pricy and unfriendly place again!!!
Upon walking in TURF motel we were quoted a rate of 90.00 per night. Upon checkout out credit card was charged 100.00 for the 1st night, 135.00 X 2, for the following 2 nights. Totaling over $ 400.00
The girl at the front desk was very RUDE, when we disputed the charges. We asked to speak with the manager who indeed had quoted us the 90.00 rate. She told us the manager didn't work weekends. (The manager turned out to be her mother who owns the motel.) The younger girl was raising her voice and pulled out a "rate" sheet from behind and under the counter, pointing out the elevated rates. The room that we occupied was in the OLD building. At 135.00 per night I would have expected a coffee maker.....one was brought after we kindly asked. However it was BROKEN. It was then replaced with one that brewed (1) one cup at a time. The Sleeper sofa was the pits....I felt like I was sleeping on wires. The HEAT was strip heater (OLD BASEBOARD type) and the only AIR was a SMALL window unit mounted so high that we had to climb upon a chair to operate it. (not fun for senior citizens.)
The Air conditioner was home to BIRDS that fluttered and made noises that was very annoying. WE CERTAINLY WON'T be back. We visit Charles Town every other month. The attitude of the owners daughter was the final straw.
The Courtyard is located approximately five miles from Washington Dulles International Airport and 30 miles from Washington DC. The hotel
is also seven miles from the Air and Space Museum, nine miles from Leesburg Factory Outlets, and 13 miles ...
