Tamarack: The Best of West Virginia, Beckley

My husband and i stop every August on the way to Bristol race from Erie, Pa. We enjoy looking at the different crafts and we always have a good dinner. We spend the night in the parking lot in our RV. The Tamarak has all night security that patrols so you have a good feeling for a good nights rest . i would highly recommend visiting the Tamarak, but i agree it is no place for small children.

We had no idea what to expect. We were not only surprised but delighted we took the time to stop. All the items for sale were extremely well-made and literally 'works of art'. Some very unusual pieces. Prices were very reasonable considering the quality. Watching the artists work was a special little treat. Food was delicious. Highly recommend it to everyone ... all ages. tamarack is a little jewel off the highway ... where West Virginia craftsman display and sell their wares in a very modern setting. There are several placeswhere you can watch the craftsman at work ... glass blowing .. pottery ... quilters ... furniture.. it was ALL very nice. We iddnt have the opportunity to see any theatre productions while we visited .. hopefully on my next visit. some of the art is phenomenal amd the greenbriar cafeteria was well worth the trip! Prices were not too steep and some of the items i saw were unique. I was a little disappointed in one of the quiters ... being a quilter myself i was surprised to see that she used a machine to do her quilting. When i compare my sister asks for her completely hand made hand sewn appliques, patchwork and hand-quilted pieces, i would not pay the price this woman was asking for a machine quilted piece. I must admit her artwork was fantastic and unique however. overall i would make Tamarack a regular stop when i am travelling on I-64 !

i would just like to say, i have been to the tamarack and i loved it it has great features, food, etc. its is fabulous, but thats when i was living in west virginia now i live in washington state
