Green Leafe Cafe
Voted one of the top ten bars in America by USA Today, Green Leafe offers over 30 draft beers and about 150 bottled beers, along with wines and spirits. This bar is open 365 days a year, serving a never-ending crowd of young students, long time locals and visitors alike. Classic bar foods such as crab cakes and fried fish are served; they're perfect with a refreshing drink after work.
We went on Monday, and the place was somewhat dead. However, it was still early (6ish). We were pleasantly surprised to find all entrees were $9. There are daily specials, not only on the menu, but also as far as pricing. For examples, Wednesday has half-price wine, I believe.
Portions were reasonable, to the point where neither of us could find room for dessert. Fries are battered and compare favorably with any I've ever had. I had the Guinness-marinaded cheesesteak, with Gouda, and it was outstanding.
A large supply of beers, including Virginian, domestic, and imported, were available on tap. Additionally, there were a TON of beers available in bottles, making this an excellent stop for anyone who enjoys a frosty adult beverage. There was even a gluten-free beer, which is clutch for those who have wheat allergies. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys great food, and great beer. Coupled with a trip to the Williamsburg AleWorks, it's a beer lover's haven.
the casual atmosphere is just what one needs at the end of a day of either shopping or sight seeing in beautiful Williamsburg.
Lunch or dinner, both have proved excellent for us. The chance to try a different beer each visit, great place
can't wait to get a gang together for some quality down-time
The Green Leafe is a staple to many tourists, students, and locals! We have always enjoyed the wonderful food, atmosphere, and beer selection! The only bad thing is the parking! I suggest parking in the W&M Stadium parking after 5pm, or along Scotland St.
