need people who can speak english
By A Yahoo Contributor, 11/11/07
We were there about two weeks ago for my nephew's wedding. We got a server from some Eruopean country who does not speak English that well. We kept rephrasing what we wanted to him and he got a little testy with us. My wife thought he was rude.
The food was not too bad although my steak was overcooked. The drinks were overly priced and they put a service charge on our bill. We thought that was offensive.
The restaurant was pretty but they better management for sure.
Can some actual Japanese come to Hampton Roads and open a Japanese restaurant? Nice atmosphere but high prices compared to other Hibachi in the area and the same non-Japanese employees I have come to expect in a Peninsula "Japanese" restaurant. Food was average and it has all been done before, many times over.
Made reservation for Thanksgiving dinner a month in advance. Made absolutely sure they knew it was on Thanksgiving Day which they assured me they were open. When we arrived the place was closed. Was hard to find dinner elsewhere as most places were closed. Unbelievable lack of service.
I loved that we did not have to wait. Once we got started, I found out why there was none.
The wait staff was moody and acted as if it was an inconvenience to get drinks. The Japanese beer was hot. This after we were informed no Miller Lite of Coors Lite. The cook broke an egg on the eating surface and it was not properly cleaned by the moody wait staff.
Management needs to re-evaluate things. This place is beautiful, I'd hate to see it fail.
Food was excellent, along with show. Our
cook caught an egg in his pocket and told
us he had worked at the restaurant for
seven years. He was very fast. We had
the shrimp and vegetable appetizers and
I had a pina colada served in a ceramic
pineapple which was smooth and creamy. My
hard to please 20 year old was impressed.
