Very good campground

A well mantained, safe, state park to camp. They offer a lot of things to do, such as biking, hiking, fishing, canoeing etc....
The sites are mostly shady, and most are roomy. If you call the reservation desk, and tell them that you need a recommendation for a site, they are happy to give recommendations. Some sites are almost triangular shaped because of curves in the road, so keep that in mind if you need a lot of space.
The shower facilities are typical for a state park. Not awful, but not like at home. Bring your flipflops.
There is a very nice bike trail that starts and ends at the campground store. It is a novice trail and perfect for adults and children. You can rent bikes at the store, but keep in mind these bikes are older, adult sized, and some needed work on them (air in tires, chains replaced.) Still, we rented four bikes and had a very nice ride.
Laundry room is also available.
Picnic table and Grill at each site, but no fire pit. You can make your own fire area, which is nice - you get to pick where the best spot is for your S'Mores.
The prices are very good, there is a lot of security patroling the sites, and everyone was friendly. Will be returning again next month for a second visit.
Virginia Beach was an easy 1 - 1 1/2 hr drive depending on traffic. Water park and Busch Gardens are 10 minutes away. Really a perfect spot for a camping vacation.
Bring bug spray for mosquitoes and ticks.
