Established in 1940 to preserve the scene of two major Civil War battles, this five thousand acre park is the site of the first and second Battles of Manassas. Visitors can be entertained at the park by demonstrators bringing history to life with dramatic performances of the epic battles, as well as exploring the historic terrain where men fought and died for their beliefs a century ago.

Manassas Battlefield Park Experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/25/08
There is more to this park than one can imagine. Hike, bike, run, or picnic on the grounds where two historic battles took place during the Civil War. It is well worth the time it takes to hike around the battlefield; imaging what it would have been like to transfer back in time to an historic era in American history. Stop and talk to one of the Park Rangers, they are very helpful and give tours, etc. Don't miss the film, it is a great beginning to your hike around the battlefield and gives you the backgroud to understand what happened.

Takes you back to the battle
By Mike, 02/22/08
My favorite place on the battlefield is Henry House Hill, you can see most of the surrounding area from here. The overall battlefield is intact; however, it is bisected by roads throughout. The musuem is terrific and don't miss the film. the film is worth the extra 3 bucks.

I really enjoy going here every year. I love learning about history, and manassas battlefield is very close to my house, so it is easily accesible for me. If you are considering visiting the battlefield, I highly reccommend it.
