Well worth the gas, money and time !!!
By Lisa W, 08/26/08
So much fun! I'll never see the zoo the same way again! You can leave and come back as many times in a day you want. Get there early when they first open and you'll have more animals come to your car. Be prepared to spend a few bucks on extra food.( you may lose your bucket!) I believe if you go once you will come back again, I know we will!

laughter for the soul
My husband had just had a tramatic event in our lives and we needed a family day, so a friend @ our church recommended this..We took the roof off our little Gea Tracker and headed thru the park, what an experience! The animals were everywhere around our little jeep and we couldn't escape their feeding frenzies. We would all laugh and keep on going. What an awsome trip and well worth the trip and money.

Great place!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/01/07
You can get right up to the animals. We really enjoyed the place. The animals came right up to the car and eat out of the bowls that you buy at the start of the tour,

Not what it used to be
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/15/07
My family & I have been there at least a dozen times in the past 3 years. We have loved it...until this trip 7/15/07. The fees have gone extremely high, and the lady taking the money was rude. She ignored our questions and kept giving her speach about the rules. You can no longer feed the bison, watusi cattle or the zebras. They have always been a little agressive taking your bucket of food, except the watusi, which are only cows with big horns. Really big horns. There were hardly any animals to see as before, and when we did happen to come by some watusi and bison, the rangers were coming and running them away from the area with whips. This place used to flourish with the sites of animals, but no more. The owner should re-evaluate the staff's ability to effectively communicate with the public. That was a huge turn-off. Rude and unprofessional. We will not go back, nor recommend anyone else go. Highly Dissappointed, Mother of 2.

Poor Ownership
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/15/07
After buying tickets, my family (15 members) ate lunch before driving through. As we started to drive into the park, the woman that sold us tickets would not let us through. Back and forth she went on about some nonsense, I could not believe how rude she was. I asked to speak to a manager, and with attitude she said that she was the owner. It took a lot of trouble to get our money back. I did not understand the trouble, or the problem with refunding when we did not go through. My family and I will never return under any circumstance.

Our favorite animal experience!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/28/06
We stopped here on a whim one summer and now its become an annual trip. The facility is clean and well maintained. There are a number of unique interactions set up for visitors to experience with the animals. There is nothing like feeding the giraffes by hand -- buy lots of crackers to keep their attention at the feeding platform. You can feed the animals throughout the park and if you take the wagon ride (I highly recommend it to taking your own car the first time around) you are well educated on the species of animals in the park and their habits. You can drive through the park as many times as you like, so make a day of it! There is a large petting zoo and bird avairy to explore as well. This is a great experience for all ages at a very reasonable rate. The gift shop is great too!!!!

It Was Awesome!
By WH, 08/30/06
We decided to buy a bucket of animal feed so we could enjoy the entire experience. Well, right at the beginning I was scared silly by an ostrich who was determined to eat the entire bucket of feed - and he was a very messy eater too, there were food pellets flying everywhere! LOL I saw so many wild animals up close and personal, it was absolutely amazing! There was a camel that just stood in front of our car and wouldn't budge for the longest time - then he pressed his face close to all the car windows to see if we had any food (by then it was all gone, unfortunately!). Then we went through the petting zoo and last, but not least, we bought some giraffe crackers and fed the giraffe's! The Virginia Safari Park was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to The Natural Bridge. I'd love to go back!

Loved it !!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/17/05
This is the funniest thing I have done in a very long time !!! It is so worth the money you pay to get into the park. We drove our own car, a little Honda Civic, and when the Zebras, Llama's, buffalo, etc stuck there heads in the window, I thought we were going to die laughing. Take a video camera to catch the laughter and excitement of the trip. We had all ages in the car, 65 year old, 40 year, 42 year old and an 11 year old. We all loved it !!!
