My mother in law wanted to treat me so we bought a dozen jumbo crabs there. They looked very small and were 48.00 a dozen. It is unacceptable to pass that size as JUMBO. Then, unbelievably, every crab was bad! I have never had this happen anywhere and I am a crab lover from Baltimore. I made a split second decision not to embarrass my mother in law or appear ungrateful so i said nothing, pretending all was well. If I had not been in that awkward situation, i would have insisted on getting 12 normal crabs. I was afraid it would get uncomfortable or they would refuse and it would ruin this sweet thing she was doing for me. I can only guess they cooked crabs that were dead already. Each and every one of the crabs was bad- the meat was mealy and very bad tasting, as I said, as if they had cooked an already dead crab which is a no-no. Occasionally , you will get one like that in a dozen and you just dont eat it. I just sat there in shock as crab after crab was inedible. I put them in bucket when my MIL could not see ( she has poor eyesight ). She was all excited about treating me and it was just an awful experience. We go to f'burg a lot and I have eaten there twice before. I am perplexed about where they have gotten a rep for good seafood- the other stuff was just run of the mill fried sandwhiches and then I had this experience.A man who who came in after us was looking at our crabs and wondering if he should get some- i felt trapped as I couldnt not even signal to him to not waste his money. I do realize that I could have and should have told server about it, but i just was too uncomfortable being given this special treat. My husband and I will never go there again.
