Suspension Bridge and Riverwalk
Now for foot-traffic only, this historic suspension bridge spans the Brazos River. The bridge was the first to cross the river, making wagon and rail travel across this natural boundary possible, and was built beginning in 1866. One can take a walking tour of the bridge and enjoy the views, or take advantage of the Riverwalk below--- a network of walking and jogging trails that meander along the banks of the Brazos River.
The bridge looked nice, but there were 5 or 6 suspicious looking guys standing around and hanging out around the entrance to the bridge. I was pretty scared by them, as they were just sitting there and didn't look like very friendly people. I was not overly impressed by the bridge, but I'm not that into historical significance and things like that. It was okay. Also, I didn't really get to enjoy myself because I was ready to leave the second I saw the men at the entrance.
It is beautiful, the calm river flowed as a cool summer breeze. The parks on each side were so well maintained. The history of the bridge and surrounding area is priceless. It is as though i once lived there long ago. I could almost see the cattle crossing. It is spectacular.
I loved the bridge and learning about the history of it. I would had liked it more if there was something to get a drink or go get a t-shirt that represent waco. To me, I believe if their was advertisement off the bridge as like San Antonio, Everybody off the Interstate would like to stop by, and relax or just to have fun. I really enjoyed it and hopefully my thoughts would matter.
