One will find a great variety of species co-existing in this state-of-the-art natural habitat zoo complex. Some featured exhibits include vultures, African lions, White Handed Gibbons, a herpetarium, Sumatran Tigers, giraffes and the co-inhabitants of their natural native region, elephants, lemurs, Texas barnyard animals, and much more. The zoo is also active in the area of conservation, through its participation in the Species Survival Plan.
The Cameron Park Zoo is very well organized and great for children. Everything was easily accesible for young and old people alike. Best time to visit is spring or fall.
Zoo was very user friendly, clean and easy to navigate. Went on a Friday afternoon in the summer, not crazy like many other zoos. Lots of animals that were easy to see. Cool slide in the otter exhibit that kids could play on. Great playground and activities for kids. Shaded walkways. Overall an unexpected treasure.
The Cameron Park Zoo is a great place to day trip. It is a very child friendly zoo and has a lot of activities for children of all ages. For a small zoo it is extremely well designed and kept better than some of the larger zoos we have visited. It is only 5 dollars, a great deal! Everyone should visit this zoo who lives or tours in Waco, the new Brazos River exhibit is worth it alone.
We live in Waco and frequent the zoo. It has recently been expanded with a wonderful Brazos River Exhibit which has several stations and animals. Our son loves to cool off in the splash area. We always take family when they come from out of town. If you've been before the addition, you should come back.
Nice size zoo especially for the children, just big enough for them to walk, but not so large it becomes tiresome. Just the right amount of animals and the playground was shaded!
