Cameron Park Zoo, Waco

Two 65 year olds with 11 year old grandson...we all thought it was a great layout...lots of shade...restrooms, water fountains. (The water tasted great...I thought it might be funky!) Vending machines with soda and bottled water for $1...but I kept a big plastic bottle filled as we strolled. A-one walking decks and a hundred places to pause and sit down. Lots of info on the animals...(many were sleeping outside but still a great display). Several air-conditioned buildings-marine aquarium, freshwater aquarium, reptile house, nocturnal house. We were theer from 10am to 1pm. We got tired out, but could have gone around the whole zoo again, if we had the energy! This zoo is a work of art...It's hard to believe that someone would have complaints. Good job Wacoans!

The old Waco Zoo out by the airport was horrid, and the animals were caged in small fenced areas. The newer Waco Zoo is completely different. I cannot speak one on one with the animals, but they act as if they are at home, and without enemies. Friendly staff, great Management.

I can't imagine who wouldn't love this place! Beautiful layout, heavily wooded. Animals in natural habitats. Clean and not over-commercialized. It's the best kept secret in Central Texas. It's also the perfect size for families with younger kids that get cranky and exhausted after 2 or 3 hours. We love it!

This is the best zoo I have ever been to. It is easy to get around, beautifully landscaped throughout and very clean! The animals are in creative enclosures with room to roam. At the end of the day you and your child can play in the spray parks they have set up in the shade for all to enjoy!!! I LOVE this zoo!!!

I am a current resident of this area and really would not recommend this zoo if you have been to many others. The drive to the zoo goes through some "risky" territory that you should not be out at night in. The zoo itself I feel is pricey for what you get. Its a small zoo that is currently trying to grow into something better. The over all zoo is kept up nicely and the people are nice but for the price you pay to get in there's not all that much to see. The whole experience will be over before you know it. I would only recommend this if you are babysitting and need a way to tire out some kids. Adults will not be impressed

We took our grandaughters to your zoo on Memorial Day. We are in our 60s and our youngest grandaughter is 3. It was extremely hot that day. We were not allowed to bring water into the park and as we just drank water before entering the park, figured we could buy water along the way...not so. No one told us that the only place to buy water was at the front gate so we had to cut our stroll through the park short because of extreme thirst. We finally made it back to the only place for water, all of us very dehydrated by now and they refused to sell us any as "they were closing" although it was not even closing time. I find this a very dangerous policy. If you are not going to make water available then you should at least inform your guests when they enter the zoo that they should buy it immediately or they will have to go without. It was a very disappointing trip and have never experienced such disregard for human health in any other zoo anywhere. I hope you will take steps to insure this does not happen again as the zoo itself was very clean and well kept and it would have been a very good experience but rather turned out to be a very distressful experience.

This is one of the best zoos that I have visited. One gets the feeling that the folks running this place really appreciate the animals that they have and it is shown in the natural surroundings of each exhibit. The animals look very pleased and content. The tour of this zoo will take only 2-3 hours, but it is worth every minute. The shaded walkways and A/C in several places add to the pleasant atmosphere. Only thing I feel needs to be changed is the concession stand needs to accept credit cards, for the time being they only accept cash.

the new area - Brazos River, is very easy to visit and has many A/C stops which makes it nice during the hot weather. Can be seen in a couple of hours, but still, we had a nice experience.

THIS ZOO IS REALLY GOOD BECAUSE YOU CAN SEE ANIMALS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD AND IT ALSO IS VERY FAMILY ORIENTED. IT ALSO IS IN CAMERON PARK, SO IF YOUR PLANNING ON SPENDING A GREAT DAY OUTDOORS, THIS IS THE PLACE TO DO IT.

The Cameron Park Waco Zoo is my families favorite Zoo in Texas. I have four children under four years of age and the size, atmosphere, cost, and overall experience of the zoo was fantastic! We lived in Waco only for a year and we visited the zoo regularly. The new addition really adds a lot to the zoo, and my children found it very exciting! They Loved swimming with the river ottars. The size of the zoo is perfect and can easily be done in a day no matter the age. A great quality for a zoo to have for young children as well as for grandparents who love to go along! We miss the Waco Zoo very much and look foward to returning very soon on a family vacation. I strongly recommend it, the whole family will enjoy the trip! Darcy from Sweetwater Texas
