Formerly a place to congregate outside the Baylor Bubble of polo shirts, khaki and overly-aroused frat idiots, this place has gone the way of Chevy Chase and become a shell of its former self. Never a hole in the wall, the well-populated Scruff's is now overrun with girls wearing too much makeup and guys wearing too many layers. Cheers to the old and down with the new.
2004 BU Graduate
It doesn't look like anybody has been by this bar anytime lately. The staff thinks that the bar is too good for people with tattoos and colored hair. We were asked to leave ( along with 3 bands) because we were scaring off their regulars. Dirty looks and snide comments were bouncing around the place from the snotty Baylor babies. Sure there's alines to get into the place, and I'm sure it's a ton of fun... if you're a high strung, rude, closed minded brat. But I guess there's gotta be a place for everyone. This isn't the place for anybody with a personality or sense of individuality.
Any time you are in Waco, stop by Scruff Murphy's. Friendly staff, a relaxed environment, pool, music, and cold beer. You won't find the stereotypical Baylor student (polo shirt and khakis) in here. Good people, good beer.
