East Texas State Fair, Tyler

I have lived in tyler all my life, i always loved the fair . When I was younger loved the rides, food & fun.. Now that I am older loved to go for the exhibits. None of the buildings were open, which led me to beleive there are no exhibits except for the very few at Harvey Hall. The name was changed several years ago from East Texas Fair to East Texas State Fair. It needs to be changed again to East Texas Carnival because that is all it is. I heard someone with the fair say attendance is down because of the economy, I am sorry but that is not the problem..

We usually go every year. We mostly enjoy going through the exhibit buildings and the arts & crafts buildings. This past year, they made it rather difficult if you wanted to go during the week during the day. (The buildings were closed!) After trying during the day, we decided to go one evening. It was not worth it. Admission was high, as was all the food. Son rode some of the rides - here again, steep. We spent almost $100 and really didn't have a great time. If it is run the same in the future, we won't even bother going.

Great evening at the fair. Great food...great cost....great rides and fair prices. Arts, crafts, entertainment...they have it all. Go every night and see something different.
