Calvary Chapel of the Springs, San Marcos

Calvary Chapel of the Springs is located in San Marcos, Texas. The Church & Congregation purchased the "Old San Marcos Library" in 2004 and renovated it into a beautiful sanctuary with offices, a childrens' ministry, baby viewing room, and the "Veritas Cafe" where snacks & coffee / latte'. What is really different, thereby 'special', about Calvary Chapel is that the services are taught Straight From The Bible ... Chapter by Chapter & Verse by Verse. When a book of the Bible is begun - it is taught through to the end - week by week. This is a church where The Bible is actually taught - verbatim and expounded on through each sermon by an extreemly good and capable Pastor. Pastor Terry (Michaels) has been with Calvary Chapel for many years - working up through the various offices. He and his family initially were involved in one of the Southern California Calvary Chapels, where he worked with the young adults (Teen) and various other areas. I do not know all of Pastor Terry's struggle and growth - but it is a very interesting path that God set them upon (including selling their home and autos and going overseas to minister as a Missionary for a year within an unknown culture and language - placing his life and the lives of his wife and two daughters in God's hands). I've been a member of CCS (Calvary Chapel ofthe Springs) for over 5 years now - my wife and children for over 7! It is the first time that I've every willingly attended any regular church services - but not only attended 'religiously' every Sunday but have volunteered my services in an area that I am comfortable with and enjoy performing. What was, to me, a simple 'visit' to appease my wife's 'nagging' about attending 'once in a while' with our children and her - turned out to be a 'God-Send' to me. I was never asked again about attending - as I am the first one in the car Sunday mornings - eager to continue the Bible Story from the prior weeks. Through the dedication and skills of the Pastor to the friendships developed within the congregation - I have been truly blessed. I invite you to attend - whether you are seeking a church, already have a church where you attend, or simply are curious. I came one time, with grave reservations and a bit irritated at being 'hoodwinked' into going by my wife - only to find that my ears were opened, my eyes could see and my heart was filled with comraderie, love and warmth from that first visit. The congregation is a melting pot of peronalities, races and income levels - yet once you are greeted at the door you will find that we are all equals - and more importantly you will find, as I did, that there are no 'strangers' - that regardless of your abilities to make friends (I am a very shy person that finds it difficult to be around strangers) you will find and feel the love, happiness and caring... You will be welcomed and hopefully you will return the following week to find how God speaks to us and through us - that His work is mighty and full of love. Children of all ages are welcome, there is a place for everyone to learn about God through His book, The Holy Bible, ath their level of understanding. Please come by - you will be welcomed. God Bless
