The course design and layout is good. Well placed sand traps and bunkers to make a challenging round of golf. The sand traps are very deep and would require a fair amount of maintenance. The problem is that these traps are clay and have little if any sand. Most have no drainage and just pool the water. There are footprints cast into the clay and golfers don't even attempt to rake. The rakes are only used to retrieve balls out of the pool of mud. These are without a doubt the worst sand traps I've ever seen. Doing maintenance on a golf course is more than just cutting the grass. This was the first and last time I'll play golf at West Ridge.
