Great for kids!
By TERRI, 3/20/10
I took my son to the aquarium during spring break week. The price was more than we anticipated, but at the end of the day we decided to buy the membership for four, which was a good deal if you live close enough to come more times than one during a year. My son is 8 and he loved the aquarium. He was fascinated with all the exhibits, loved the area where he could touch and explore. He was thrilled to be able to touch a sting ray as it swam past him in a shallow tank. The highlight for me was the dolphins. The show wasn't spectacular, but was designed to showcase how they work with and train, rather than just having them do flips etc. But, after the show we went downstairs to the underwater viewing tank which was the best part. We got to watch the dolphins swim and play and show off for the tourists. Because it was spring break, we did have to stand in line for our tickets and the line was long, but it moved very quickly. If you get a membership to the aquarium, you get 10 percent off at the gift shop and free parking. All in all it was a good experience.

What a Great Time!
By Ty, 7/27/09
Just got back from Corpus Christi. Our kids loved the Texas State Aquarium. There was so much to see and to do. Not just a fact muesum, but all sorts of activies for the kids to do and to see. The kids loved to touch the Sting Rays and to watch the Dolphin and Avian shows. Suggestion.... I would go on a weekday and right when it opens. We went on a Saturday at 9:15 AM. (It opens at 9:00 AM.) The parking lot near the aquarium was already full. By the time we left at 11:30 AM, there was a line outside and around the corner. What a fun time. Totally worth it!!!

We will go back
By leah, 6/30/09
I liked everything about it, however the shows should be offered more times during the day...not just every 2 hours or so. The new exibits were great as I had not seen them before. We want to go back next month and take the kids. I think the prices are reasonable considering how much they do to help the animals and have a rehab center. The staff is very friendly and helpful if you have a question. If you take your time and absorb everything it can last about 2-3 hours. I would recommend eating elsewhere as the food is expensive but other than that the experience was great and we will go back.

Great for the Family
By SnShn, 5/20/09
The Texas State Aquarium was a cool place to be. We watched wild birds fly directly over our heads in the Wild Flight show. We got to get up close and personal with the sea turtles, dolphins, and the opportunity to touch manta rays! We saw this HUGE hermit crab casually crawling around in the water. It was awesome to see Piranha and other Amazon creatures as well. The Aquarium has a fun-filled playground for children and s Subway's sandwich stop for those needing to do a little munching. This place should no be compared to SeaWorld, it is not a place of entertainment, but a place to learn about different animals/sealife and their habitats. I would definitely take the family to come visit the Texas State Aquarium. I had a fun time there and learned a lot about the animals within our environments. Besides, there are not many places in Texas you get to touch a Manta Ray/Sting Rays! You can do pretty much everything within 3-4 hours for $15 a person. To save on the $4.00 parking, I would suggest eating at Dotz or Pier99, leave your car and walk to the Texas State Aquarium, it is only a few feet away! Oh, and don't forget to bring the camera! :o )

It was an experience of a life time
By caroline, 4/1/09
I would have never thought that I could have so much fun. It was my first time to ever experience somthing like that. I was there last sunday the 29th of March and I was so impressed with the dolphin show and all the animals. The dolphin show was the winner for me if you would like photos of this you can email me at brianandcarolphillips2006@yahoo.com, we will gladly send them. We cant wait to go back this summer with my husbands daughter so that she can experience the wonder and amazement of the aquarium if you can go I suggest that you do its right by the USS Lexington and the beach so make it a day like my husband and I did you wont regret it.

Not worth the money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/26/08
This attraction is not worth the time, effort or the high price of admission. It only takes about 9 minutes to walk through the entire aquarium, and thats only if you stop and read about every species of fish they have..... save your money! The atmosphere is good, but very limited. Value is a flop....

Kids loved it
By keatoncopeland, 8/16/08
Our kids loved this place. It closes at 600 in the summer which is too bad. We went through the aquarium in about 1.5 hours. Would have stayed longer had it been open longer.

One of my favorite places to go
When my son was small and we lived in Corpus Christi, we'd go on weekdays when there weren't as many people. I'd instantly relax in the dark cool of the tank rooms. I guess it was my "zen". The contrasting colors of the fish, the ability to just sit and chill...it was just one of my most favorite places to go. I no longer live there and my son is a lot older now, but I still have family there. I buy them a membership every year so they have to take me when I go down to visit! I think a membership is just the way to go if you are able to go a few times or if you have family with small kids that can use it. I guess it can seem expensive, but in the scheme of things, it's really not when you understand what all it is that they do. Plus, it's just not cheap to keep up a place like that. It's simply beautiful and relaxing. You have to be someone that can appreciate it I guess. My husband could take it or leave it, but for me, I could go all the time. My favorite area is the jellyfish. I've never seen another exhibit like it. The kids always love the otters. I regret that we aren't closer and that my son won't be able to participate in the learning & volunteer programs they offer to teens. Check out the website, they offer a ton of things that not everyone realizes, including a safe haven for abandoned/stranded/injured/beached wildlife.
