Pleasantly surprised
They did a good job presenting all aspects of President Bush's life. I thought at first that the current exhibit on trains was unnecessary (though I enjoyed it), but it didn't take away from the space dedicated to Bush, so it ended up being a bonus.
The weakest part of the exhibit was the presidential years - perhaps because Bush was such a poor president. In one part Bush explains why he vetoed various legislative acts showed that Bush was out of touch since several were later passed during the Clinton administration and with very positive results (despite Bush's misgivings), such as the increase in the minimum wage and the family medical leave act. Also, coverage of the 1992 elections was glossed over somewhat in comparison the the previous three elections, but I guess going from the highest presidential approval rating in history to losing in a landslide less than two years later IS a bit embarrassing. But, overall, well worth visiting.
Be sure to visit the nearby garden & grave site (where Bush will eventually be buried).
