Davy Crockett Riding Stables, Townsend

I chose this stable because they were the only ones that offerred rides for experienced riders. We were staying in Pidgeon Forge and all we found were commercial stables. We couldn't find any stables that gave you more than a boring walk on ridiculously maintained trails. We wanted a more natural experience and Davy Crockett provided that and more. Every person there is extremely kind and friendly. They show great care in matching the horse to the rider. I had every confidence that my children would be safe under guide's care. They had a 2 hour ride and came back beaming. They loved every minute and we are going back tomorrow. We will definitely visit this stable again and our next vacation will be in Townsend so that we can get to Davy Crockett again. If you are looking for a beautiful trail ride and want to enjoy nature do yourself a favor and visit this place.

This was a last minute decision after we went and seen AppleValleyRidingStables and decided no way. We called and they said come on over. The staff took their time fitting the right saddle and horse with all three of my children ages 5,6.8. will definitly be going back.

Wow!!! My family and i had a great time. I seen great views and met some awesome people, who works there. We did the hour ride and cant wait to come back. Kelly, our guide was so sweet and nice she really made our ride so relaxing and fun. My teenage son fell in love with her. The staff was friendly and welcoming as well. We will sooooo be back!!

Very friendly people and great horses. My wife and I went on a half day ride and rode for 6 hours with just us and our guide Josh. It was a wonderful time through the park and was very very relaxed and unhurried. Very much worth while!

My husband and I chose this stable based on reviews of all the stables in the area. I'm really glad I did my research ahead of time. The staff was warm and friendly, horses were paired with riders depending on skill and weight. Our guide, Kelly was so nice, and looked out for the children in our group. We rode for 2 hours and had a wonderful time. We are going back in Oct and look forward to riding with them again to see the fall foliage. Amazing, well priced, beautiful. I have never been horse back riding in my life. And four of us went here. After reading reviews and pricing everything out we decided that this would be the best. And it was well worth it. The price was much cheaper than all the other stables even when you used a coupon at those. The staff was very friendly and knowledgable. They helped us inexperienced riders out. And they cared about the horses. Other places we read about were said to beat the horses and Cades Cove was said to have a very unfriendly staff and unfriendly horses. I would not hesitate to go back to the Davy Crockett Riding Stables. And for more experienced riders they will accommodate your skills.

Cannot say enough great things about this stables and our riding experience. If horseback riding is on the list while vacationing in the Smoky Mountains, you should go to Davy Crockett Riding Stables. The area is beautiful, the people are great, and the horses are not "trail dead". We had 6 people in our group (3 adults and 3 children, ages 3 - 12). They skillfully selected the best horse for each rider. I had no fears about my 7 year old riding along a sleep mountain trail by herself. The horse that they selected for me to ride with my 3 year old (Black Magic) was so cautious and careful. He knew that he had a little one on board and he went out of his way to make sure that his footing was smooth and secure. Next time we go, I plan on letting my youngest child ride by herself. If you want a true horseback riding experience, this is the place to go. Not one of the other tourist trap stables that is closer to town.

The people were great! Josh was a wonderful guide, very funny and personable. The horses were beautiful and the ride was very scenic. We took the hour and a half ride and could have stayed longer. At the end of the ride he offered those who were up to it to take the horses on a short gallop. What a thrill! We had a little wait when we got there and the man on duty (son to the owner) talked to us and kept us entertained until the horses arrived back at the stable. This was a true ride, through the wooded area around the stables and into some open land. Would recommend this to everyone....we plan on coming back. Thanks for the wonderful experience!

This is the best riding stables ever.... The horses are great and the trails were very fun as well. The manager was extremly nice and a cool guy. Also, there was some HOTT girls working as the guides...lol. But if your looking for a great ride try this place, you will love it.

Davey Crockett Riding Stables is the best in the Gatlinburg area. Very friendly. The owner is there at 8am in the morning to great us. 3 of us girls took the 1/2 day ride. Josh was our guide and he was awesome. Very friendly and curtious. We saw a momma bear and her 2 cubs while eating lunch in the wild. That was a plus. Well worth the ride past other stables to get to Davey Crockett Riding Stables. We were in the saddle for almost 5 hours and 1 hour for lunch. No rush from Josh to get back. His mount and dismount are also impressives.
