Horsin Around
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/27/09
Davy Crockett Riding Stables is a great place to take your family to do a little "Horsin' Around." The staff are so friendly from the moment you walk up to the lot, especially the very charming and quirky manager who tells his tale of woe about being thrown from a "quarter horse" until a friend heroically pulls the plug. He is so goofy, but in such a way that we all felt like regular old cow hands when it was time to mount up. The guides are great and really take care of you on the trail. They will even let kids as young as three ride alone if you want and they do so much better when they are not crammed in the saddle with mom or dad and do better than most the adults just to be honest. The trails were great! There were some muddy and mirky spots, but the horses did great and it just added to the adventure...Can't control the rain, I guess.... All in all this is by far the best stables we have been to in the Smokies. Davy Crockett makes you feel right at home and you WILL want to go back again!

a little unimpressed
By ryanS, 06/16/09
We did the hour tour, and to be honest my boyfriend and I were pretty unimpressed. The trail was through a bunch of muck and since I know this area pretty well, they definitely could have taken us on a more "scenic" route.. it seemed like if you didn't dish out the extra money for a longer tour-- you get the crappy trail(and @ $20 an hour I was hoping for something a little more scenic). The horses were very well behaved, the guides and crew all were friendly (but who isn't in that area) If you are looking for a nice calm horse to ride on, this is the place, but if you want to see the splendors of the smokey mountains,I'd try and fish around a little more for another place, or ask them if the longer tours take you to more interesting places.. Next time we are going to try the cades cove waterfall tour.

Best riding stables in the area!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/17/09
Don't waste your time or money riding at the other area stables, I have tried them all and have found Davy Crockett to to be the most enjoyable and scenic ride of them all. From the care of the horses, the entertaining guides and the wooded trails you get the most for your money here. Recommended above all others!

Great Family Adventure!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/01/09
We did the hour ride and had a great time. My boys, ages 10 and 7 had no problem with it being their first time ever on a horse. Our horses were calm and gentle. My husband and I had no worries as our guide, Brandy, was helpful and informative. She even rode backwards in the beginning to make sure everyone was doing well on their horses. We had a great time and would highly recommend visiting them if you can. You will be glad you did. Our guide, Brandy, is working on a better dismount than Josh. So, look out Josh!

LOVED IT! GOING BACK!
By Jennifer, 12/19/08
My husband and I rode yesterday on one of the half day rides at Davy Crockett Stables and had the time of our lives! We're sore in a few places that would be distasteful to mention but if we could've went right back today we would have! Everyone was extremely nice and helpful and our guide, Brandi, was knowledgeable about the horses and very friendly and personable; this was a huge plus since we spent most of the day with her! They trailered our horses to the top of the mountain, we mounted around 9:45 and rode until after 4:00, we brought our own lunch and packed it in saddle bags and the only time we stopped was to eat, the rest of our day was spent riding the beautiful trails. We never felt rushed to get back and our guide had to get off her horse several times to clear the trail of brush and downed branches so we could pass through, she definitely went out of her way to make our ride as pleasurable as possible. Another great asset was that we only paid $90/person including tax for such a wonderful adventure. We're going back soon and I would advise anyone vacationing in the Smoky Mountains to make time to visit the folks at Davy Crockett's! Be sure to ask for Brandi when you call!

Wanna Go Back So Bad!
By Nicole, 01/01/08
I like how the horses were so calm & that our guide, Josh, was very helpful & was a great leader. My favorite part about the whole thing was the way Josh dismounted off the horse. It was a great first time experience.

Great first ride
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/24/07
This was the first time we had ever ridden a horse. The staff was great. Our guide, Josh, was very nice and told us everything we needed to do. He was very patient and answered the millions of questions from our talkative child. ;) We did an hour ride which was perfect for a first ride. The horses was very gentle and well broken.

Home-town fun with real people!
By Bridget, 03/09/07
The manager was very nice and comforting, this being the first real time I ever rode a horse. The staff is friendly and knowledgable and makes you want to stay all day to ride. I would highly recommend this place and it was very worth it and not super expensive.

We will be going back again soon!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/06/06
Our guide was very helpful and made our 4 year old daughter's first ride extremely fun. The horse she rode was chosen specifically for a child and was gentle. We would recommend this stable to anyone who have small children. Everyone involved was nice and helpful.
