GREAT FOR ANIMAL LOVIN' KIDS
We loved our visit to the Deer farm! Granted we went on a beautiful day so I wouldn't recommend visiting ANY farm in the heat of the summer. All the animals seemed very well taken care of and looked pretty happy. The emu chicks had some leg issues but I don't know anything about emus. The poor potbelly piggy also had some sever skin issues. Probably shouldn't have that on view if it's a normal thing. Everyone there was REALLY nice and helpful. Where else can you give a large bull elk a kiss?

Kids Will Love
By ,
My four year old loved this place. You get to feed and pet on these animals such as zebra, camels, emus, deer of different types, zonkey(a zebra and donkey mix), kangaroo, and etc. My daughter really enjoyed the pony ride, they a extremely gentle. If you have kids I highly recommend this place.

Small but fun
By ,
The petting zoo wasn't as large as we anticipated, but the people were very nice and there were a variety of animals. You can go right into the deer pens and the goat pens. The feed is $2.50 per 22 oz. cup, enough for one person to feed quite a few animals but probably not enough to share. It was a few miles off the main road, well off the beaten path, but that made it all that more enjoyable. It was nice to get "out in the country" while still being so close to all the action. Worth the time and drive!

This is the place to go

if you are coming to the Sevierville/Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area. I am less that 100 miles and never had visted before. Having a two year old grandson that loves all kinds of animals i went searching on the internet and found this place. IT IS WONDERFUL!!! I think the animals just think they are part of the family (and I'm sure they are). We coudn't get over how tamed and friendly they are were. We will definitely be back , many times over, I'm sure. The staff are wonderful alos. Would much more prefer this to the big Knoxville Zoo.

wonderful family experience
By ,
The Smoky Mountain Deer Farm is one of the most pleasant places I have ever visited. The employees were some of the nicest people in the area. (Especially the longer haired gentleman in the gift shop who gave me excellent directions for traveling around the area.) The animals are very well cared for. They all seemed very happy and VERY well fed. The animals were not shy at all. They come right up to you! They even had the two sweetest cats in the gift shop. There is a comment on this site about one of the giftshop cats attacking a small child. I assure you that this "attack" was not unprovoked. These cats were two of the sweetest and cutest cats I have ever met. The supposive "attack cat" licked my two year old son all over his hands. This cat did not seem to have a mean bone in its body. I am sure that the child that was "attacked" had to provoke this cat. I highly suggest that you make this zoo one of your stops when you come to Pigeon Forge.

I want to go back right now!
By ,
I absolutely loved our visit to this petting zoo. It was great! It was one of my favorite things about our trip to the mountains. The deer were really neat! So were the reindeer and the goats were so sweet! I held one of the babies. I wanted to bring it home. And then went over to the stables and went horseback riding (my first time ever). I fell in love! The scenery was beautiful and everyone was so down to earth and very friendly! I think about our visit all of the time and I dream of going back. I would definetly recommend this to anyone (of all ages)!

great place

The zoo is a great place for children and adults. The pets are friendly, healthy and seem happy to see you. We have been several times from Florida and have enjoyed each visit.

We will be back
By ,
All most all of the animals came to us. We got the largest cup that they had and it was enough to feed all of the animals but we filled up at the end to feed the goats and deer again. The best part was seeing the camels come up to you for food and let you pet them. We got to see the prairie dogs running around and that was so cute. The staff was really nice and helpful. All of the animals looked very healthy and were active In the store they have cats and it says not to pet them but I did and I didn't get hurt, the cat only want to play.

Disappointed
By ,
Go early if going. Too hot in middle of day. Animals were friendly but looked extremely miserable. The prairie dogs were the cutest, running loose. My family has been to a similar type zoo at Myrtle beach that we really enjoy, so this(less animals) zoo was really a disappointment.

Will Never go back

You can pet severial animals, very bad experience... Watch Out for the cats !!! Black one attack my daughter making her face bleed after the workers said it was Ok to pet the cat.. After the cat claw her face very close to her eyes no concern at all from the workers!!! Worker said that cat usually dont attack, said its usually the orange and white cat that bites .. which I dont think is a good thing for kids at a petting zoo!!! When ask if the cat had it shots they seem to be offended !! So to me I felt like they was there for the dollar instead of the smiles for the kids.. Some of the deer had open sores on there head was scared to pet them... have a few different animals but mostly animals you can go see at any farm !! other than the camels and zebra. very hot.. most animals laid down and wouldn't even get up they were so hot. Needs more shade and the smell was aweful... could be lots better!! I will not take my children back or advise anyone else to visit this place.
