Worst wine ever!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/24/09
My cousin sent me the 6 bottles of wine as a house warming gift. Three went down the drain so far, and the other three are sadly sitting in our pantry never touched. A bad idea for a gift, leaving the receiver wonder if the sender has no taste for wine or being cheap. I googled about the wine, expecting the bad reviews, and surprised to find some good reviews. Unbelievable.

Just an average winery
By Brian, 06/10/09
If you are in the area, this would be my 3rd choice. Average wine, average price. Applewood gets my #2 vote and Smoke Mountain is by far the #1.

All the wine had a terrible sour aftertaste!
By Lor, 06/01/09
My Husband and I are by no means wine aficionados, but we do know the difference between good wine and bad wine. Honestly, we've had better wines that we bought from drugstores for $5 a bottle. We each tried 3 of the wines--a cab, a blush, and the blackberry. The blackberry was the most tolerable because it was a little sweeter. We both gave each other an uncomfortable perplexed look after we tried each of these wines as we were left with a very vinegary sour aftertaste. Even while walking back to our cars, we were cringing from the sour taste that lingered in our mouths. They apparantly have won many awards for their wines, but we didn't understand how. On the plus side, the man who gave us a short free tour was super friendly. The employees behind the tasting counters were either very nice or completely disengaged. They also have a cute little wine store with neat wine accessories. This was officially the strangest wine experience we had while visiting Tennessee. We enjoyed the Smoky Mountain Winery in Gatlinburg much better.

Great Place to visit
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/23/09
Excellent wine tasting and tour. Better other winery tours I have been on. A great place to stop, visit, taste and definitely don't miss out on taking home bottles of the Blackberry wine.

Great experience!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/19/09
We are new to Tennessee area during the past year from NY. Whenever guests come from the north we always take them to Mountain Valley as they love the wines we have shared with them. The people working at the winery are always so sweet and we get a warm welcome each visit!

A wonderful Place to Visit!
By Patricia, 03/13/09
The facts are...this is a wonderful place to visit! The atmosphere was so inviting, the people (staff) were friendly and helpful, the location is easy to access, and the wine is delicious!! I would definitely recommend Mountain Valley Vineyards as a "must" addition to a trip to Pigeon Forge.

Nice wines.

Mountain Valley Winery is right on Parkway in Pigeon Forge, near all the outlet malls and other attractions. The staff was friendly, and we enjoyed the wine. It's definitely worth a stop. By the way, they have a sister winery called Hillside Winery which just opened in Sevierville, about 3 miles away. It's also good.

Don't waste your time
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/01/09
To be succinct, don’t waste your time or put your taste buds at risk. We’re not wine snobs, we just like good wine. That is the reason we don’t recommend this place. There is something to be said about good, cheap wine. None of it applies here. We were staying at a wonderful bed and breakfast outside of Pigeon Forge. Being lovers of wine and adventurous, we decided to stop by Mountain Valley Vineyards in Pigeon Forge. After entering, you encounter several tasting stations. We walked up to one and said “hello” to the person behind the counter. “What do you want to try?” was his response. We ask him to tell us something about the wines. His response was, essentially that there were red and white. We ask where the grapes came from and he answered with the name of the local supermarket. We thought he was joking until we tasted the first sample. Our reaction was to immediately agree that the best thing to accompany this wine was a spit bucket. There were none to be found so we were forced to swallow. I, being much less intelligent that my wife, decided to give the second wine a chance. At least I can say is that they are consistent. If you do decide to go, bring your own spit bucket. You will need it. If you decide not to go, buy some grain alcohol and mix it with some generic fruit juice and vinegar. Serve it while being rude, ignorant or at best indifferent in a brightly lit state liquor store like environment. You will have pretty much duplicated the experience. The one plus of going is that you save yourself the cost of the grain alcohol, vinegar and juice.
