Fascinating, but sad
By ,
Not difficult to find, but the sign is placed right by the turn off, so you could pass it by if you're not looking carefully. The memorial is very detailed, but I'm curious and fascinated by all of the offerings that had been left -- cigarettes, pennies, a prescription bottle, even a plaster impression of someone's teeth. Can anyone explain this?

The map is totally inaccurate
By ,
I tried to find this place and the shown map is nowhere near the Wheat Community. We never did find the Burial Ground. We wandered around the old K-25 site, a little too much evidently. A fine member of the DOE Security force photographed the auto tag and all occupants as well as asked to see all driver's licenses. Pretty darn exciting. Another online map lcated the Burial Ground on one of the "V" streets. Again, inaccurate.

its a beautiful place
By ,
I went to the african burial ground in the wheat community..during the day, to see what i was getting into i plan to go back tonight to take more pictures, i was a pretty place, but it was sad, because of the fact they were slaves until they died.but at least now they can be free.i would recommend going here so you yourself can see the beauty we didnt want to back then, beautiful souls and land. you go down 58 from oak ridge, and the when the split comes up , go toward kingston, and its not far past there.its up on a hill a little, but there is a sign telling you where it is..If you go there, please have respect for the souls and spirits that inhabit the grounds..Thanks..peace
